Decided to make a Splatoon OC. I know it's kinda dumb to be making one so early, but I had a really fun idea for one so I decided to go for it!This is a really rough picture, mainly just to get the look and feel of her down. I thought about having her as a squidling or octoling, but I decided to go for something completely different, and since the whole of Splatoon is based off of an ocean theme, I decided to go for my favorite mythical ocean creature: the mermaid!
Her name isΒ Anemonink Star, but her friends call her Stara for short. She lives and works in her own art store in Inkopolis, supplying paint and brush supplies as well as prints of her own artwork. She loves to participate in 4 on 4 matches, and sometimes in Battle Dojo.Β She also does commission design work for Callie and Marie.
She's a foreigner to Inkopolis, since she used to live in an ocean kingdom. (Inklings never go there, since water is deadly to them) Eventually she decided to move to Inkopolis to pursue a design career. After all, Inkopolis is considered a huge center of style.
She paints with the blood of her enemies.

I certainly think Splatoon be a little more interesting if there were more characters like Star who deviated from the "Kid-to-Squid and back" scheme but stayed with the underwater setting substance.
I've got two more Splatoon OC's in production (One based on me and the other based on ). Instead of turning into squids one of them becomes a Shachihoko and the other becomes a Narwhal.

I don't think it's that water is deadly to them, more like Inklings can't swim in water (unlike ink).

The inklings' bodies are made up of a large percentage of ink, meaning when they fall into the water the ink dilutes; instant death.

Splatoon comes out this Friday, I wanted to say that and it's nice you thought outside the box with this character design.

Looks good! I also like the fact that OC's in this universe need not only be squid based. I now want to make an OC like a Triton, frog, or salamander.

Great concept. Goes against the stereotypes perpetuated by major animation companies and so forth. A mermaid that is not afraid to get her hands / tail dirty as well as do what needs to be done. Nice work

Aw this is just so adorable and amazing! I think I know why Nintendo never use the color dark red, it looks too much like blood.
I can tell that Splatoon might be Ninteno's version of TF2, except with PAIN...T!
