Raise your hand if you’re tired of Paps being portrayed as a buffoon or a five year old.
Y’know if you really pay attention to some of the things Papyrus says, he’s actually one the most passive-aggressive characters I’ve ever seen. And his face in the last panel? Exactly how he looks when he’s being passive-aggressive. Just a blank stare and a big grin.

I can't help but remember some of the more clever things he does in game.
Like when he persuaded Undyne to not kill Frisk, and instead try befriending them as "a challenge"

Most of the fandom chose to ignore Papyrus because he's too pure and innocent. But if you pay attention, he's actually one of the most mysterious characters in Undertale. Heck, we don't even now what his favorite food is by the end of the game. Not even Sans knows that kind of information!
What do we know about his background? Nothing. Why doesn't he the only one lacking an asterisk at the beginning of his speech?

He's technically not the only one. Mystery Man (most commonly believed to be Gaster) is also missing an asterisk, plus, they both speak in all caps.

Heck yeah it is. Papyrus is my favorite character because he's so interesting, but never discussed much by the fandom at large unless it ties into theories about the other characters (especially Snas).

Unfortunately, yes.... Sans is just really cool. But if Papyrus wasn't afraid to use his power to its full potential, he would've been WAY cooler. He mentioned he would've blasted you after you spared him on the Genocide run. Does that mean he didn't really believe in you? Does that mean he would've KILLED you?

I personally don't think he would have killed you. Maybe restrained indefinitely. I also think the line was added so that Papyrus could allude to the fact he has Blasters too.
Fun fact: A friend of mine who digs around in the code said something along the lines of Papyrus using blasters has the same power level as Asgore, which is incredibly strong. I could have misread it though.

Interesting.... That kind of power can be really threatening.
But he mentioned that he was afraid after you spared him... Afraid of what,exactly? He wouldn't be afraid of a tiny little human AND we can confirm that he's stronger than Sans. Why did he lower his ATK and DEF so much that Frisk was able to kill him with one hit?

Technically (I think this was pre-patch and I'm not quite sure if it still applies) Papyrus' Defense was at it's highest when he spares you during a geno run. He raises it, but he underestimates the human which results in his death. But that is an interesting point you bring up. What was he afraid of exactly? Considering he makes comments about wanting to meet death he probably wasn't too afraid of dying. Maybe if he is somewhat timeline aware like I think he is, he is afraid of you completing the run? Which, as far as they know, results in the permanent death of all existence.

Hopefully we'll get our answers in the new Undertale game. I believe Dr. Gaster will have a major role in it.

He can be naive, and not always on this plane of existence, but he is smart. If anything, I consider him even more of a dark horse than Sans- nobody really knows just how much Papyrus is hiding.

Hmm, well there's PlaybackTale (if you want your heart ripped out) but I don't get into a whole lot fanfics, when I go on AO3 I stick to PapXReader stuff because 1. I love this nerd and I want to hug him forever 2. It is much easier to avoid the horrible amounts of incest fics. Just scrolling past them makes me queasy and very uncomfortable.
Honestly though I should really dig around for more Pap-centric stories that are well written. There's a tag for this though on a blog I follow...but I haven't read the stories like I've been meaning to. Sorry I couldn't have been more help. I prefer information gathering I guess.
