I thought it would be fun to design an Avatar that would follow Korra. I love the Last Airbender aka Avatar universe and both series have been great.I figured that if cars had just been invented in The Legend of Korra....their technology is around the 1900s....so another generation later say 70 years it would be there version of the 1970-80s.
So the next Avatar would be a more modern person in a world a lot like today. I believe the next element in the cycle of the Avatar is earth, so I made up an Avatar from the Earth Kingdom, who because of her powers and the modern age I assume would be more like a Super hero....so I tried to give her a hero costume (Kinda like Elektra) but tried to keep the classic styles of the show.

Well,as a Chinese,I think the follow avatar should be based on a story about PRC,after 1949.
And this is my concept of the avatar following Korra.

I take it he's rather traditional as I imagine Korra reigns for at least 50-70 more years...and she seemed to be in an age similar to that of the industrial revolution (about 1913) making the next Avatar's world maybe similar to the 1960-80s.
That's why my version was a bit more modern looking

In that alternate time line,the industrial revolution is developed in "China",and this can make our world quite different.

Anyway,as a Chinese,I think the world of Korra just developed the seaside part of "The mainland of Earth Kingdom",but the inner part is still very closed and undeveloped,just like the time of China from 1912-1949.
And Mao,the new avatar's mission is to develope and industrized the inner part of China/Earth Kingdom.
Like other avatar,he will also make something as bad as culture revolution.
This just meet our history.

That makes good sense. He could bring balance to both the traditional world and the industrial world, being a bridge for both parts of the cultures that evolve within the kingdom

And I think,just like Mao in the real history who worked in the Library of Beijing University.The avatar Mao once worked in library of Ba Xing Se university.And he is just a common library manager who works for a very bossy leader.
But he has a good friend like Prof Zi,and kept a awaring mind to those who lived a very tired job in Ba Xing Se city.

Yeah the next avatar would be from the Earth Kingdom because if you think about it Avatar Roku, the Avatar before Aang, was from the Fire Nation, Aang was an Air Nomad, and Korra is from the Southern Water Tribe, so logically the next Avatar would be from the Earth Kingdom.

I predict the reigns of the next few Avatars (Earth, Fire, Air) will be cut short after the gun is invented (ha ha).
Seriously, the Avatar in modern times would be an anachronism, and ignored by the people. Then the Spirits would be pissed by modern man's acts against the environment and before long, SPIRIT WAR! Avatar to the rescue.

I like her. I also believed the avatar after Korra would be alive in equivalent to modern times. But I was thinking male and born to the Sandbending tribes.

The show has done well with females by having strong female characters....so I went female. Besides I enjoy drawing women more
