Absolutely amazing work, I LOVE THIS PIECE.
Loving the intensity of his expression (and damn I love his eyebrow markings <3), his pose is really nice, and I love love LOVE the background colours you've used here. <3 
This piece really shows off his muzzle shape too I think. ^^
Also, I'm glad you went with this look instead of snow, the colours are really gorgeous - though of course I'll always love wintery scenes but I think this works perfectly as it is.
