Any chance you have a higher resolution of this image? This is the best image of an Amiga that I have found and I like to use it as a wallpaper, but I want to do it justice on the new fancy high resolution monitors.

A friend of mine had the Atari 520 STE, we spent our saturdays playing Rick Dangerous, Kick Off, Maupiti Island, Prince of Persia, Another World, Xenon 2, etc ...
Later I got the Amiga 600, and games like Dune, or Moonstone : a hard days knight, sort of rpg with gore fights.
I miss these good times.

Ah i remember this game, this one i used to use to showoff what i thought was futuristic graphics for the time...Β Β Is everything in this image rendered?? if so its mind blowing, you must be running a real supercomputer. I could swear this is just a photograph until i saw the army soldiers breaking apart the monitor. The only thing that stands out as cgi to my eye is the specular reflection on the lampshade, and the outside of the window, but the window totally works and is aesthetically pleasing.

I remember when I got my Amiga 500 with the 512K ram expansion to a total whopping 1 megabyte of Ram memory. Thirty years ago that was a lot of Ram, most PC's had 128 to 256 K of Ram.Β Had a lot of fun with it and gained valuable experience for my eventual career in computer graphics, good times and happy memories!

Amiga looks way better on screen than Atari ST would have, good choice - as an AtariΒ lover myself.

Nostalgic memories, The Amiga is my favourite 16-bit games machine of all time.Β I am fortunate to still have my Amiga A500+ (which got back in 1991) which still works today 26 years later.Β I also own anΒ Amiga 1200 as well.

Just out of interest, what year would this be?

Well, it'd likely be somewhere between 1985 and 1996, since those were the years the Amiga was in production.
If I had to guess, I'd say somewhere around the middle of 1992, because that's an Amiga 500.Β (The A500 was released in May 1992.Β The Commodore 64 was still in production too.)

I would assume it's "Cannon Fodder", because that's what the box leaning against the monitor says.
In fact, it IS "Cannon Fodder".Β Take a look at this screenshot and compare it to the picture:

It isn't a game I would've recognized otherwise.Β I never owned an Amiga.Β (I really, really wanted one... and since I have disposable income, I might see if I can find one for sale somewhere. even if I have to do some restoration work on it.)Β I know the game was ported to other systems, including MS-DOS, the SNES, and the Sega Genesis, but I bet they don't hold a candle to the original Amiga version.

It's about the principle of the thing.Β Also, because my job actually gives you annual lie detector tests, and one of the questions is if you have engaged in software piracy in the last year.Β The answer had better be "no", and I had better be telling the truth, if I want to keep the job.Β So I don't pirate software, not even to "emulate" old games, because I happen to LIKE my job (well, aside from the lie detector tests.)
And yeah, like I said, I'm always getting distracted by whatever new games I've bought.Β Currently, "Grey Goo" and "Offworld Trading Company".Β When I'm done with them, *maybe* I'll go back to Fallout 3.
