Description So we're studying the five value system in art university (Though I couldn't help myself and created a ten value scale as reference lol) and this is the most beautiful sphere I've ever drawn. I am so fucking proud of this sphere. This blended shaded sphere. This sphere.

*Cough* Okay enough of that. I began with the casted shadow and the core shadow shading on the sphere, then went into the background. I used a willow charcoal and compressed charcoal to fill out the background, and then swiped a chamois across it to create that kind of effect. As I was drawing, charcoal dust fell downwards on the page, creating this waterfall effect, so I rolled with it and smudged it up with the chamois. I erased part of the bottom of the sphere's shading to create "reflected light", which is basically light that bounces off the floor and back onto the sphere.

Also, did I mention how much I fucking LOVE working on an easel? It looked intimidating at first, but once you start actually doing it, it becomes natural, and I actually prefer it to drawing flat on a table now.

Do NOT steal my artwork, and the concept of stealing includes: Posting the picture on another website or any other media without crediting me, or informing me - claiming the drawing as your own - selling it without my consent. If you'd like to share my artwork to support me, make sure to credit me as the artist, and let me know where it's posted!
You can also grab some yummy premium content, which includes the original reference used to create this~

I'll see you all in the comments! Stay awesome, everyone.

Reach for the stars,
Blue~

That looks like some great practice! I can definitely understand why you're proud of that sphere!

The sketchpads we're using look a LOT bigger than in the picture as well (24x16 in) and it's my first time using charcoal, so it's so much fun

I really want to try out different media when I have the time. I have both charcoal and water colours somewhere in my appartment. Question is where... hmm...

Mixed media is awesome Though the best thing I can do with watercolor is make it bleed all over the page xD It would be awesome to see work in that kind of medium from you, though!
