It had been a long time since you had someone to depend on, yet you just had to suck it up because your son counted on you to be there for him. His father left a month before the baby was born, and claimed in a letter that you were smothering him with your pregnancy, but you didn’t go after him, you’d figured he was cheating anyway. Love was truly a cruel mistress. It took you a while to stand on your own two feet considering that you had no family left, but thankfully your friends Elizabeta, and Lili supported you a bit. Seven years later here you were with responsibility on your shoulders, and a cute, cherubic faced child beside you.

“(s/n), hurry up, your friend and his mom are here to take you to school!” you hollered down the hallway of your commodious apartment. A child with (h/c) hair, and green eyes raced down the hall towards the door and reached for the knob before being stopped by you, “No kiss?”

The boy made a face before carrying out your request, “Love ya Mom” he said before running out the door. You watched as he ran down the apartment complex’s steps and to a car where his friend’s mother waved at you. You waved back before closing the door, and plopping down on the couch.

A sigh fled your lips, “Finally a day off” your cell phone vibrated on the coffee table, and you swiftly reached over and snatched it up, then answered, “Ello Eli”

“Hey!” her voice burst through the device.

“Please, continue to damage my ear” your sarcastic tone was obvious.

“Yeah, yeah, sorry, anyway, this is important! I have bad news!”

“What is it?”

“Th-“ a vigorous knock was heard at the door.

“Give me a sec Eli”

You pushed yourself off the sofa, proceeded to the door, and swung it open, only to be presented with a man with angel like white hair, and crimson eyes. “Ja, hallo, wie geht's? I’m jour new neighbor zhe awesome Gilbert!” then he pointed to a puff ball on his shoulder, “Und zhis is Gilbird” the fluffy thing moved to reveal its eyes and beak.
“Hi” was all you could utter.

“Do be rude, frau, invite me in” a German accent laced his voice.

“Umm, yeah, sure” you moved aside letting him in, throwing the ‘stranger danger’ rule right out the window. You jogged over to your cell, and held it against your ear, “I’ll have to call you back it seems that I have some unexpected garrulous company.” You could hear Gilbert complaining about your selection of beer in the background.

“Is that Gilbert?!” it sounded like she was panicking.

“Hey… How did you know his name?”

“(y/n), kick him out, now!”

“Why? He seems like a tolerable neighbor.”

“Gilbert was a childhood frenemy of mine, and he contacted me, and told me he was moving here, I didn’t realize it was in your apartment building until today. Make him leave! He’s a no good irresponsible, freeloading pervert, even his little brother kicked him out!” she persisted in freaking out.

“Eli I really appreciate you looking out for me, but I think I wanna judge him for myself” you stated.

“Bye!” you tapped ‘end’.

“Zou know Elizabeta?” Gilbert questioned.

“Und jou told her jou vanted to ‘judge’ me” he placed a playful smirk upon his lips.

“Yeah” your orbs widened, “wait- NO!”

“Judge away frau, if jou’re lucky maybe I’ll even give jou a glimpse of mein awesome five meters” his smirk deepened.

You ran a hand down your face, “Why didn’t I listen to Eli”

“By zhe way zhe beer you have here sucks”

His complaint was ignored, “So what made you move here?”

“Zhe vorld needed more of me so I moved away from Germany and came here” he said cockily.

“Eli told me your brother kicked you to the curb” you mercilessly deadpanned.

“I vould have left anyway,” he retorted, “he just couldn’t handle all of mein awesomeness!”

“He got tired of you so now you’re alone, huh?” Gilbert flinched at your comment so you took that as a silent sorrowful ‘yes’, “It’s ok, I was left alone too, we can be alone together if you want” you offered a friendly smile, and he gave you a genuine one.

“Ja, vhatever” he said, yet still grinned. The moment was ruined when your little man busted through the front door.

“Mom! I’m home! Did you know today was a half a day?” he stopped talking when he noticed the albino German male in the room. “Who are you?” he sneered.

“Oh (s/n), this is Mr….” Gilbert’s eyebrow’s furrowed, you looked too young to have a kid.

“Gilbert Beilschmidt” he offered his hand, but the boy just glared at it.

“Mom, I’m hungry”

“How about the three of us go out to eat, that sounds good, right? Let me just get my shoes” you walked out the room.

“Damn, jour mom’s a MILF” Gil held a smug look on his face.

“What’s that?” he scowled.

“Ok guys let’s head out” you strolled back into the room.

Gilbert snaked an arm around your waist, and sashayed toward the door, that when (s/n) finally caught on to what he was going to say. “You will not fuck my Mom!”

“(s/n)!!” you yelled. (s/n) pulled out a frying pan from his backpack that his Aunt Eli had giving him.

“Oh mein gott” Gilbird flew onto your head as Gil ran out the door with (s/n) waving the pan after him. You definitely knew from now on that your life was going to be a little crazier, but that’s ok, because at least you wouldn’t be alone.
