As I said, I continuing the Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha influenced drawings, at least for the Mane 6 (Thought I have the feeling I'll continue it beyond the Manes. It's just to much fun.).So the new one is with Rainbow Dash. But now I have to explane how the magical aura can be there and how the heck she can use it to hold that weapon thing.
In short: Help from a magical device.
In long, it always been my headcanon, that everypony has magical powers, but just unicorns could collect it and use it, to do, let's say, spells. And there are the pegasi who use this magic to fly and walk on clouds. Earth ponies can't use, because don't have an extra "limb".
So here comes in the magical device that actually help non-unicorn to collect this magic and use it. Hence the headbend on Rainbow.

Again, just like with Twilight, Rainbow's armor also loosly based on her gala dress. But really loosly.

Really great! Both this one and the Twilight one, they match up to Nanoha and Fate on multiple levels. She also has kind of a Wonder-Woman amazon warrior chick vibe too, which is awesome!

Rainbow Dash has mastered the ability to use magic. My only concern about your armor designs is that they look like they are covering up important running muscles.

Actually in MLP #8, all 6 ponies learn how to use their elemental spiritual energy directly like blast and levitation without the use of spells.
So in other words, Rainbow Dash is actually capable of this feat. The aura is simply blue since it comes from within, not the element. With the element though, I imagine it would be amplified.
