I look over my shoulder, eyebrow raised as the crowd gives me a wide berth. I was used to being alienated but something was off about this. People are muttering and looking at me as if I might actually hurt them. Anyone who knew me, was aware that I wouldn’t hurt unless you asked for it. “She’s with Gohan…can you imagine what she had to do to get that innocent boy to go out with her.” My eyes widen and I sigh quietly, walking away from the idiots. They thought I’d forced Gohan to date me? Wow. But I shouldn’t be shocked should I? I see Gohan rummaging through his locker. Teasingly I begin to close the door, hitting his shoulder and scaring him. He leaps nearly two feet in the air before looking at me, fear evident in his eyes. Um…? He laughs and scratches the back of his head.

“Oh…(Name). It’s you.”

“Is…that bad?” I question, leaning forward. He was nervous. Why?

“N-n-n-no! It’s not!” He waves his hands in front of him, sweat appearing on his forehead. My eyebrows furrow. He was acting scared. W…why? I didn’t do anything to hurt him did I? Was I scary? It’s not like I could hurt him. I take a few steps back. “Uh? (Name)? You alright?” Even my own boyfriend was doing his version of alienating…he was treating me differently right now…why? I nod my head silently, spinning on my heel but I can feel the tears sliding down my cheeks. I clench my hands into fists and give up on trying to be subtle about it. I let out a sob and place my fingers to my forehead. “Uh? (Name), wait do—” Before he can finish I IT out of the school—I don’t care who sees me right now—and appear in our typical training area. I lower my ki—I don’t need the distraction. I glare at the dummy, shoulders hunched up. This poor thing did nothing to deserve my wrath…to bad he was gonna get it anyway. Hours are spent training on that poor wooden dummy, punching it until my knuckles bled. I didn’t have my ki to shield my fists anymore—if I used it to do so, people would be able to detect me—but the pain is welcome right now.

It lets me know that I’m not some horrible ‘monster’ that it seems everyone has equated me to. I bleed like everyone else. I’m a normal human. …Okay well maybe normal is a bit of a stretch. But I was still a human. I hear heavy panting and turn around to see Gohan bent over, obviously winded, backpack still on. Had he searched for me the instant school let out?

“Man…do you have any idea…how mad mom is gonna be…that I skipped school? But if I tell her what happened, I guess she’ll understand.”

“What do you mean you skipped school?” I question, raising an eyebrow. When did he leave the school?

“Yeah…as soon as you teleported out, I figured something…was wrong. I left the school shortly after…I’ve been looking for you for hours. Why are you hiding?” He asks, tossing down his backpack and sitting by a tree trunk. I look at him for a moment before looking away.

“I…”

“You know, if you lie, I’ll be able to tell. So why don’t we skip the attempt and get right to the truth?” His expression turns serious.

“How bout’ I answer your question with another question? Why are you bothering looking for someone you’re scared of? Just go away Gohan. I’d rather you not have to stay with someone like me.” His eyebrows shoot up in surprise and confusion.

“Someone I…what sort of nonsense are you babbling!? Scared of you? I’m not scared of you…okay maybe that’s a lie when you’re mad at me, yes I’m very scared but…that’s normal! Where did this come from?” He takes a few steps towards me, while I take a few away from him, keeping a distance.

“It’s all over school…it’s like I’m some sort of freak of nature. They think that I’ve forced ‘sweet, innocent, Gohan’ into dating ‘big, scary, powerful (Name)’. And don’t lie I saw the fear this morning.” Gohan looks up in thought.

“Oh yeah…I’d heard about that rumor. Someone said they felt sorry for me.” I hug myself, taking another step away from him. “Honey, they’re rumors. Anyone who truly knows you would know it isn’t true. Honestly, I don’t understand why people are thinking that about you, you’re a very sweet girl…but…well…the reason that I was afraid this morning was…” He chuckles and reaches into his backpack, pulling out a long box and appearing behind me. I feel something cold get wrapped around my neck and look down to see a golden chain necklace, with a heart charm at the end. “I didn’t want you seeing that early. But I think you need it right now more than ever.” He kisses right behind my ear, getting a small giggle out of me. “I was hoping to give it to you on our date for tonight…but looking at the situation I have another plan. Why don’t we go to your house, sit and relax in comfy clothes, stuff our faces and watch and laugh at a couple of bad movies?” I let out an actual laugh this time and nod my head, leaning my head back on his shoulder.

“Alright. I’m game.”
