I may ask you the same question.
I think its a house most probably.... the old city has so many historical building, most of them are houses normal people living in.... most of them poor.

I would face a communication problem, in these areas almost no one speaks English....

hahahaha..... its enough that walking there I got tons of weird looks, I felt like a tourist.... and everyone is out to get me, they don't really like outsiders, I tell you one thing, the smell of food between those tiny alleys drove me nuts, I was drooling and had to get out of there and find me the nearest restaurant and eat something.... it was crazy.

Yea I had the same problem with regards to food when I was in Spain and Morocco. You walk by a restaurant or something and it's all over.
