I've seen that building a -ton- of times but it gets me every time.
I'm going to have to find out what it actually is.
Great photo by the way.

After hours of driving myself crazy trying to find out.
I found out exactly what it is. The Crosley Building. ^_^
And unfortunately I don't go to UC as of yet. But I'm hopeful. It has alot of very interesting architecture. The whole city does. I love it.

It was a light industrial facility, or at least it says so. It's housed offices as well. But as far as I've found it's not in use now.

It's okay. I live in city limits. I get to run about whenever I want.

that's so awe inspiring, having such a monumental structure lay there unused, I have a thing for abandoned places
I don't know why, but they just send shivers down my spine.. so Awesome (by the true definition of the word!)
so, what do you do?

I haven't been able to go exploring abandoned buildings since I was 11. But it is fascinating. Some of the things you see while exploring are so strangely out of place. I miss it.
Mostly I work for a living. I've not had the chance to think about going to school until recently. I'm hoping to be a full time student soon.
It depends. I may go into art or history. I love learning about older and different civilizations and their culture and art and...well I suppose it's all connected.
But architecture? That's a very nice field. Great choice. ^_^

So you probably get this a lot... or maybe not, I dunno.

But are you really from Iraq?

What's it like there?

haha, yup do get it a lot....
and yes, I am Really from Iraq/Baghdad, I don't know why people find it weird.
and I left Iraq about three and a half years ago, so I don't know how's it like right now, but I know how it was before.
all I know now is what my friends tell me.
by asking "What's it like there?" in which way exactly do you mean?
I could babel on for 3 hours answering your question...

I would imagine so..

Well... I suppose because I'm an American, and well.. you know... but I've never met anyone from Iraq! So it's really kind of rather neat!
Oh really? What country do you live in now? [you don't have to answer that if you'd prefer not to.]
I would LOVE for you to babble about what it's like there for three hours! Haha, but I expect that would take some valuable time...
But, perhaps the basics?

Also, Alladin is the bestest movie EVER.

I know what you mean...
and it is kinda neat
I don't like it when some people ask me where am I from, I tell them Iraq, they go, oh.. ok...... and I'll be like > D:
I live here now
hehe kidding, I'm in Ohio state. in the united states.
I go to Miami university in oxford.
its been almost a year since i came here.
well... Baghdad, Iraq. is my home, it is the most beautiful place in the world. (or was at least)
its quite different than the united states.. like a 360 degrees shift, socially people in Iraq are more friendly (I bet you're like WHAAA) no seriously I feel like in America people Emphasize Too much on individuality and their Personal space or Buffer zone.
like with my Iraqi friends we joke around all the time, and its mostly physical, slapping each other and sometimes gets down to wrestling and punching.. its all fun XD
while in the us... its waaaay to weird to have that.
(i'm trying to explain the point to you by comparing your culture and mine, i hope you don't find anything I said offensive) well here's the thing, most Americans TALK too much, and about Super Silly things.. it's like OH MY GOD, PLEASE STOP!!!! its as if their lives revolve around the silly tiny valueless events that happen everyday.
when in Iraq (my friends and I) mostly talk about serious things, important events and issues, in a fun way.
again I hope this is not offensive, and this is probably a stereo type, not everyone in America is like that, just like not everyone in Iraq is like me and my friends.
you know... we have the small issue of people blowing themselves up an all.. but you know..
I love Iraq so much.... and i miss it like hell.
I can go hang out with my friends at their place, or take a bus to a nice commercial street where you have hundreds of people walking the streets, check out the small local stores, grab a natural juice drink from a juice shop (you chose the fruits and they juice them right in front of you, add so ice cream and hot chocolate... you're set!
walk to a friend's nearby home, say hello hang out a bit, take a kiat back home (kiat: a minivan "kia" more like a tiny public transportation bus)
hang out some more, head home have dinner and sleep.
wake up the next mornin' to walk to my friend's place and walk to school that's few blocks away. in PE play football by the tigris river, or canoe race in the river.
one time I got a tiny stick Hyundai car, man we had fun, driving around the city...
life is very different in the u.s.
there is no room for humans to walk, nothing pedestrian friendly, well THAT SUCKS BIG TIME.
its like you can't Go anywhere if you didn't have a car.
get in the car go to the mall or something, walk around for 5 hours, get back in the car, head home... I HATE THAT.
see in Iraq, you don't have to plan things.... fun just happens, there are a Million choices to have, but in the u.s. you only have so little...
man I've got so much more to say.. anyways gotta go DRIVE my brother to the library
and Aladdin IS the best movie EVER !!

Yeah, that's completely unfair. I would feel D: if someone asked me where I was from and I got that sort of response as well.

Ohio! Wow! I wasn't expecting that. But how come you decided to come and go to university in the United States of all places? And while I'm on the subject of college, how old are you? And are you male or female? [again, if these are personal questions in any way, theres no need to answer.]

Do you have an accent?! I'm certain you do, lol, sorry, these sorts of things about people from other places is just exciting to me.
Are you a Muslim?
Does Iraq get very warm in the summer???
What was your first language?
How many (if more than one) can you speak?

Wow. What do you think was the most beautiful parts of Iraq?

Ah yes... we tend to like our buffer zone... Sorry about that..
Yeah...Well... maybe in general it's strange, but not like... with friends.

By the Tigris River... that much have been incredibly neat... in my opinion anyway.

Iraq sounds amazing by the way.

I'm getting the feeling that you really detest the USA.. probably with good reason...

What can I say? We're all just people with different customs.

I'm sorry that you don't like it here.

hahaha my god, you're one heckova girl aren't ya?
soooo many questions DX
now that's the kind of interest I'd expect
oh well, why don't I put it in a neat list shall we?
1-I'm 21
2-male
3-well I'm fluent in English, I don't have a terrible accent (like indian or something) but I do have a hint of an Irish-British accent... I love it!!
4-Iraq is Super hot in the summer, (Iraqis see California summer as the closest thing to Iraqi summers)
sometimes the temperature gets close to 60 Celsius D: (that's around 90 Fahrenheit)
5-I speak Arabic (my mother tongue) and English as a 2nd language. and a little bit of Turkish (because I studied 2.5 years in north Cyprus)

I was studying Architecture in north Cyprus, meanwhile my family went to America and settled there, so I applied for the closes university to my family and ended up there
so the main reason of me coming here is because of my family, and also universities here have awesome education.
now I'm a junior in architecture.. yaaay one more year to graduate

I do not detest the USA at all... its a free country (for Americans anyway) its a land full of opportunities (not right now with the depression stuff)
I like it, but I don't like the culture in general, mostly because I'm from an entirely different one. I gotta cope with it you know what I mean?

all of Iraq is amazing...
the most place I like are the old allies of ancient baghdad with all the traditional buildings and narrow streets.. all built around the river, and every major street has a profession set to it (i.e. on street is for animal trading, one is for blacksmiths, one is for mechanical stuff)
and the cool thing in iraq and most of the middle east, is that there isn't any Humongous corporation markets (like walmart) so you have little shops owned by normal people, this way you have thousands of choices where to get things, food clothes... groceries. and this way you can walk around and have fun, unlike driving your car to a huge parking lot in front of a walmart and have limited choices where everything is machine made.... bluch
but I guess all that works for americans.. we have different cultures and customs, you might not like middle-easter culture if you live there!
(too much human interaction)
what about you? so far I've been saying everything

Haha, maybe. I just love other countries and the people from them, and I've never met anyone from Iraq, so I have many questions!

Neat lists are good. And since you asked me what about me, I'll answer in some places as well.
1.)I'm 16. Which means that you're five years older than me. Anyone ever tell you that you are old? Hah, that's quite all right, I'm old too.

2.) I am a female. ... Do you ever wish you were the opposite gender? I do sometimes. Maybe not all the time, but for a couple of weeks. It would just be fun.

3.) NEAT! Irish-British! That's really neat.

4.) Only 90 degrees? That is'nt so bad! I love 90 degree weather. I thought that it more often got up to like 120 degrees? Such is what I've heard anyway?

5.) Arabic... mother toungue! Ah! Whats a word in Arabic? Do you still speak Arabic in the home?? Turkish as well! Cyprus!!!!!! AH! I'm so jealous!! One day, you mark my words, I'm going to be fluent in French. and if I'm lucky... I'd love to learn Filipino.

6.) Ahhhemm... I'm a juinor in high school... *cough* I'm taking college classes though, so I can sort of relate. Maybe? So what exactly do you plan on doing with your architecture degree? Sorry if that's a rather dimwitted question. Obviously you'd do architecture related things... ehh... I'll ask anyway.

yes, that makes sense. Right, thanks for your explanation.

That all just sounds so brilliant. Walmart will be the doom of us all! (or that's what my father says anyway)

and hey, do you have msn or aim?
