I had a bit more free time to draw this weekend so I decided to draw something related to Gigan's parents in Godziban. I love Godziban to hell and back and the fact that we're getting characters who take the roles of Gigan's parents in this show still feels surreal to me. Like I love Gigan so much and there's a lot of stuff with him in Godziban and I'm so happy to see we're getting even more lore related to him through the introduction of his parents (Toho please I want more Gigan content/lore, you never gave us a proper backstory for him in Showa or Millennium besides his rivalry with Mothra in Final Wars TOHO PLEASE-).

I more-so wanted to draw Gigan's mom but I thought I'd draw his dad too since I wanted to make matching illustrations of them and since nobody really gives that much attention to the old man.

Anyway, here's Gigan's mama. I had a blast drawing her but man are some of her details hard to draw. I struggled more with drawing her horn, mandible and visor than anything else. Like I love the whole thing with her being extra spiky and having even more sharp edges than even FW Gigan, but man is it a pain to draw. Her visor was really hard for me to figure out, because while there are clear references of it it's still such a weird, all-over-the place shape. I am guessing they made it have so many pointy edges was so it could give off the illusion that she has eyelashes, which does work, but still drawing it was not at all easy. Also I was originally going to draw like a redesigned version of her since I still have some issues with her design like her HUGE hips, her tits and her UNGODLY thin waist. Eventually I kinda got over the boobs because I feel like the reason why they gave her boobs in the first place is because Gigan generally looks very anthropomorphic, especially in FW, and I personally have no issue with drawing boobs on anthro animals (even if they're not mammalian) so I said fuck it and kept the boobies because I too like boobs (truly shocking). But next time I draw a waist/full-body drawing of her I will probably make her thighs less huge and get rid of her thin waist because just looking at that brings me actual physical pain, like ma'am how are you still in one piece yet, how can that tiny waist even handle all of that weight????

I really really love her colors. I always liked working with pink, especially dark shades of pink. It was a bit harder to figure out her colors, since to me she looked like she had like 3 different tones of pink, which was a bit confusing for me since I'm more used to only using two shades of blue when drawing FW Gigan. But I figured it out in the end. I also had a lot of fun coloring her visor. It felt refreshing for her to have a pink visor, compared to Gigan's trademark red visor. Also I really like the golden frame around her visor too. Gigan's dad also has a silver frame around his, which is a detail I really like. One of my favorite things about the designs of Gigan's parents is that while they do look similar to Gigan, since they are his parents and they're the same species, they still look unique and have different details compared to their son.

For the background I just made it pink-ish purple and put some hearts there since I thought it matched the overall aesthetic that Gigan's mom has

I'll try to draw more stuff with Gigan's parents soon! I have this drawing planned in mind that is just a cute little group picture of Gigan and his parents, can't wait to draw that one ^^
