Here is part 7!
Only one more part to go before the "Aftermath" parts are completed.
I had hoped to upload it last weekend, but I didn't want to make this public before I had something else to put on my Patreon.
Which now have a small preview of the upcoming mini story about Aina.
Yeah, I realize that some of you was hopping to see what became of Aina in this part. But sorry, it's still not quite time for that yet.
It will likely be the next thing I make though.
This part was originally planned to be included in part 6. But after seeing how lengthy it would be to include both Amani and Vizuri's perspective, I decided to split it into two different part.
English is my second language and I have done my best to look misspells and grammars.
But feel free to correct wrongs if you spot them as long as you are polite about it.
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Amani’s eyes was becoming heavy as he walked through the tall grass. It was getting late and seemed to be another night without any result in finding his sister. While he worried about Vizuri, he was also a little annoyed. Why did she have to hide like this? Didn’t she see what she did to their parents by being away? Couldn’t she just for once think about being responsible and do the right thing? The sky was slowly darkening and Amani just about to call it a night and turn back home, so his parents wouldn’t have to worry about him too. Then he suddenly came across his sister's scent, he would recognize it anywhere.
Excited that he had finally succeeded with what his family had failed with for these last few days, finding a direct trace of Vizuri, he started to follow it. His parents would no doubt be very grateful and proud of him if he managed to find Vizuri and convince her to finally come home tonight. However, to his annoyance, he had to follow the trail quite a while before his sister’s shape finally came into sight. She was still quite a distance away and hadn’t noticed him. He was just about to call her name when Amani realized where they where and what she was staring at.
The border to their kingdom.
Vizuri then looked over her shoulder, not at him, but back at pride rock that was but a silhouette toward the darkening sky. Amani realized what she was doing, or rather what she was thinking. She was considering to run away, to leave the pride lands.
Amani stared at his sister, knowing very well what he should do. He should walk up to her and try to convince her to come back home with him, that everything would be fine and that what had happen with Aina hadn’t changed his faith in her. That he would be there and support her every step of the way. Like no doubt, she would have done for him had the roles be reversed. But he didn’t move, or rather he couldn’t bring himself to.
He and Vizuri had always enjoyed hearing the stories and deeds of his grandparents and parents, it filled him with pride to know he had the blood of such noble and good lions in his veins. But it had also made him feel like he had a lot to live up to. Which left him with a constant feeling of never being good enough and unworthy of his ancestors legacy.
Amani took his status as prince and future king serious. Always trying his best to be perfect in everything he did. Vizuri on the other hand, had always been the more carefree one and never taking it as serious as he had. Yet, she always managed to do things better than him. She had always been the one to come up with the cleverest answers on their royal lessons and catch the biggest preys on their hunting lessons. And as if that wasn’t enough, as cubs, she had always lured him along when she was about to do something stupid. Getting them both in trouble and making Amani feel even worse about himself. He simply couldn’t brush it of as easy as his sister, or most of the other cubs for that matter. Every missteps and failure haunted him and caused terrible emotional agony.
Still Amani did love his sister, and now that they where older, he understood that she hadn’t meant any harm by her actions as a cub. She had just tried to include him and spend time with him. But she had also been young, stupid and not understood the agony her little antics had caused him. But the fact remained that always having someone to compare himself to, would always be followed by the feeling never being good enough. But if that comparison disappeared, if he didn’t have someone who always sat beside him with a better result, maybe those haunting feelings would go away.
Amani knew that thinking that way was wrong and not noble at all. Vizuri was his sister, his litter-mate. He shouldn’t be so selfish, thinking about letting her go just so he could feel better about himself. He knew this and yet he couldn't bring his legs to run up to her or call her name. Instead, he just watched as Vizuri finally made her decision. She looked away from pride rock, taking the final steps that brought out of the pride lands. Slower first, then when she was but a dot in the distance, she started to move faster. Disappearing out of sight.
Amani stood there for a long time, staring in the direction his sister had gone, before finally slowly starting to move his legs back toward pride rock. The thoughts spinning in his head and guilt painfully tearing into his guts. He tried to shake it of himself by coming up with excuses. Was this really so bad? Vizuri was tough, strong and a good hunter, surely she would be alright. If his sister was happier away from the Pride Lands, who was he to stop her? And what difference would it have made anyway? She would likely never have listen to him and just left anyway.
Then as he came home that night and was asked if he had any success in finding his sister. He said that he hadn’t seen her. Seeing his parents disappointment and worried faces made guilt tear into him again. If he told them right away what he had seen Vizuri do and gave the direction she had left. They could still catch up to her before she had come too far. But again, Amani’s tongue refused to move and his voice refused to obey him. So he remained silent and tried harder to convince himself that his sister leaving was for the best.
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Yeah, I have hinted in previous pictures that Amani would end up doing something he would not be proud of at some point.
However, while he did the wrong thing here and it's really no excuse. Being haunted by anxiety and never feeling good enough are terrible feelings to live with and Vizuri did not exactly make his life easier on that part. She has become better on it now that she older, especially after their grandparents died. But growing up, Vizuri could be pretty insensitive about her brother's insecurity and anxiety. She didn't do it to be mean, but simply because she was young and didn't understand the angst she sometimes caused him.
Would it had made a difference if he really had tried to convince her not to go? Who knows, maybe it would have, maybe not. But then he would at least have tried.

There are too ways for Amani now. He either will break under the new pressure of being the only heir or... he will become more confident without sister's presence and will prove himself.

Amani that's the worst decision you made. Your sister could've been killed or die on her own, and you just stood there and tried to hide from your parents, I understand it's Vizuri's decision but you could've stopped but instead you being selfish. If I were you I would have follow her.
Great job on the art!

What the hell ?! If my sibling was about run from home, I would run after him to get some sense into his head or drag him home before he goes on a possibly suicide's journey. Amani, what a selfish decision!

Maybe it is better for Vizuri to leave, yes. But it don't really excuse what Amani is doing here.
He don't let her go because he has Vizur's well being in mind or out of respect for her choices, he do it to solve his own personal issues.

The problem is not about being the best or not for Vizuri, it's the fact that Amani did nothing so he could feel better with himself and his insecurities. What a good brother should have done in this situation is at least try to talk her sister out of this, and if Vizuri had insisted to leave, well, like you said, it would be her decision and Amani should respect that, but he should have tried to inform their parents about it, who are worrying sick, they don't deserve to be left in the dark. But Amani is simply doing this not for Vizuri's sake (let's not forget she could get hurt or killed being so young on her own), but for his very own. Not only he let his sister go without even saying goodbye or trying to stop her, he's lying to his parents just so they won't be able to find her. If something happened to Vizuri, Amani would be partially to blame because he would have been responsible of hidding information and keeping his family from finding her in time.
If Amani had done this to help Vizuri, because it was Vizuri's wish, well, it would be at least relatable and understandable, the problem is he's doing all of this because of his own issues.

While Amani is insecure about himself and his own abilities, and should have talked to Vizuri and alarm their parents, letting Vizuri go actually is the best thing Amani did for Vizuri. Even Amani knew the Pride did nothing but made Vizuri miserable because of her resemblance to Zira, and after what Aina did that made Vizuri lose it, no doubt everyone's speculations will get worse and will make Vizuri go crazy. As far as anyone's concern, Vizuri is better off away from Priderock until the Pride can realize what their actions have caused for Vizuri and the royal family.
But now that Amani gave Vizuri his silent blessing to leave, if he truly wants prove himself and not have those feelings of inferiority he had when Vizuri did better, he has to accept himself because while Vizuri got better prey, he still got prey himself and proved to be a responsible leader when he had to be. And he will have to stand up to Aina and make it clear he doesn't want her as his mate and call her out for how she treated his sister and that she is the one who ultimately made Vizrui leave Priderock, costing everyone a Pirdemember, princess, daughter and friend. Despite him being shy, even by now Aina has earned his scorn.

Well, the thing is that Amani is not doing this with Vizuri's well being in mind.
He is doing it because he hopes it will solve his own personal dilemmas.
Had he done it because he hoped his sister will be happier away from the pride lands, it would have been different.
But even then he should have tried to talk to her first and inform their parents about it. But instead he lets Vizuri run of,
putting herself in danger and keeps their parent's in the dark about it, just because he hopes it will solve his insecurity and anxiety.
Which is just wrong of him and Amani knows it.

Ah I see, on that part he is wrong since there are dangers out there that Vizuri could face. And he shouldn't be that insecure thinking if Vizuri's gone he can start becoming the best, especially when their parents and friends and the rest of the family will be devastated in her disappearance.
Of course to me, after what the Pride put Vizuri through, I don't blame her for leaving, I hope she's able to form her own Pride and proves to Priderock she is a capable leader and is not Zira.

The thing is Amani didn't do this thinking about Vizuri, he did this thinking about his insecurities and himself. And while it's true that Vizuri might need some time away from Priderock, the way she left is extremely dangerous: Vizuri as strong as she is, is still just a teenager, she could get hurt or even die, either out of starvation or get raped and even killed by rogues. Even if it was Vizuri's decision to leave, Amani should have at least tried to talk to her before she tried to leave, and if that didn't work, at least tell their parents about it so they knew what was happening with their daughter. Amani is doing this because of his own insecurities and is not only allowing Vizuri to leave, he's doing everything to make sure she leaves and nobody finds her, and that's why people are mad at him.

Yeah, he did that pretty much to finally prove himself without Vizuri's presence. I read the comments to and I am mad at Amani for not at least saying goodbye to Vizuri before letting her go on her path and knowing the possible consequences she can face out there like you said.
But after what happened with Aina, Vizuri was leaving no matter what and no matter what anyone says and will disappear regardless.
I fear Amani might go down a dark path like Scar if an arrogant lioness says, "If you were half the hunter Vizuri was-" with Amani snapping, "I'm TEN TIMES the hunter, ruler and anything Vizuri EVER was!"

I agree with you that Vizuri might have left no matter what Amani had done, but this is not about if Vizuri had left or not, it's more like what should Amani had done. Even if Vizuri was to leave anyway, Amani should have at least tried to talk her out of it, or at least letting her know how loved she was and that all her family was worried about her. And even if Vizuri had left no matter what Amani had told her, he should have told their parents right away what happened, specially knowing how worried they were for her.
We are forgetting that, even if Vizuri does want to leave and needs to leave for her own sake, she's still pretty much a young teenager, so even if she's strong and can survive on her own, it's still very VERY dangerous for her leaving on her own alone: there's other predators, lack of food and water, not to mention rogues that could hurt and even kill her. These dangers are already very real for an adult, imagine for a teenager, she might not be a cub, but she's not an adult either, she's not a full grown lioness yet.
I think that if at least her parents knew what was going on, they could have either talked her out of it, or send someone to be with her just so she could have some time of her own to think about all of this and relax. What Amani is doing wrong is the fact that he knows Vizuri is leaving and can be very dangerous, yet he's not only letting her go without even trying to talk to her, he's leaving their parents in the dark on purpose just to make sure they won't find her and she won't come back. That's what's uncalled for.
Eh, I don't think Amani would turn this arrogant: yes, he's deeply insecure, but he doesn't hate his sister to reach that point. However I do believe that he will reallize just how much he will need her to rule at home.

WhitePedal25 In reply to TarzanSimba [2019-01-17 19:57:46 +0000 UTC]
That is understandable, especially now that Priderock has lost its princess. I agree with that, Amani may be insecure but not telling his parents Vizuri left is irresponsible in itself and it's selfish because he wanted to finally feel like he can become better than Vizuri.
Which is why I hope that by some miracle she finds a group of lionesses that are kind and that can help her.
Especially when Aina will try to be his mate so she can be queen. He needs to grow a backbone now since Aina was partially guilty for Vizuri deciding to leave.

Yeah, I agree with you on the most part of it. However, I don't think Amani would allow Aina to approach him, specially after she accused his sister of killing their grandpa, King Simba. I mean, yeah, he might want Vizuri to leave for him to be able to deal with his own securities, but she's still his sister, he still loves her, and I don't think Aina would be dumb enough to dare to approach any royal after she ended up being the reason, or at least the cause of why Vizuri, the princess and future queen left.

Oh, brilliant, Amani, just brilliant. Leaving your sister to her fate without even trying to talk to her and leaving your parents in the dark about it so you can feel better about yourself. Such a good brother you are, aren't you? I doubt that Vizuri would ever do the same to you.
I've never really liked him. He is such a whining weakling, and mostly for no reason at all. Yes, I get it that he is anxious and everything(I myself am like this, so don't tell me that I have no idea what it feels like). But the thing is, he doesn't seem to have so many valid reasons to be that way. I'd understand if he were that weak and neurotic due to his parents' perfectionism, favoritism of his sister, etc(yes, I know, you can be anxious even without external factors contributing to it, but I doubt that it's possible to be as deep in one's metal issues as he is in such case); however, I doubt that his parents used to push him aside, demand that much from him and criticize him for every flaw. From what I know, his parents treated him and Vizuri equally; there was even a picture where Kiara was supporting and praising him despite him catching a smaller prey than Vizuri did. So he mostly brought his ussies upon himself, and this situation is partially his fault too.

Irete In reply to AntiHero902 [2019-01-19 11:14:09 +0000 UTC]
Yeah. The reason Amani have these issues is not because someone else pushes him, at least not intentionally.
It's rather that he has heard all these great stories about his ancestors and wants to be like that too.
While we know that the characters from the previous movie was neither perfect or successful in everything they did.
It's kinda the image Amain has created for himself about them and he feels that he have to live up to it too. I imagine
that his family have tired to tell him that no one is perfect and everyone makes mistakes and all that, but it's has
not been enough in Amani's case.

Well, in this case I'd still say that it is mostly his fault. If he were traumatized, bullied, pushed aside, etc, it would be one thing. His situation is not like that.
Yes, I'd also be anxious and nervous in his case, but not to such a degree. That's just way over the top.
Someone like him should never, ever be king. He is not only a spineless weakling, but also a snake, as we've just found out.

As much as I understand Amani's insecurities and anxiety, I feel deeply pissed off at him for doing this: letting his littermate to leave their home and leaving their parents in the dark, just so he can deal better with his own issues. He should have at least tried to convince her to stay, or at least tell their parents, but nope, he stays quiet to make sure she leaves and they won't find her, convincing himself that she will be fine so he won't feel guilty (even if we know he does).
Even if Vizuri had left anyway, a good brother would have at least tried, or at least inform their parents, cause we like it or not, as strong as she is, Vizuri is still a young teenager, meaning it will be even harder for her to survive on her own. If something happened to Vizuri while being gone, Amani would partially be to blame because he could have stopped her or warn Kovu and Kiara about this to catch her in time.
Honestly, I'm so mad and dissappointed in him... I also have the feeling that his anxiety and insecurities won't go away with Vizuri out of the picture, and it will only get even worse because of the lies, the secrets and he will reallize he needs his sister more than he ever reallized before.
