I think I mentioned a mural commission a little while back in my journal, well I have gone through a couple of drafts and this one I think is starting to work. There are most definately going to be issues come up such as proportion of the space, shifting of pictorial space and compositional emphasis and all that, and before I get myself stuck in a rut I would like to ask for some feedback.

This is going to be in a church, behind the altar, floor to ceiling and centered on a rather wide wall. Most people in the church will be able to see it from just below the middle on up from the pews. It is meant to break up the monotony of that wall and create a focal point of meditation and reflection, and the composition should draw the eyes generally downward to the altar. The pastor requested a landscape.

I've been looking at a lot of Italian landscapes, Chinese landscapes, and a certain few paintings of Casper David Frederic, but oh yes I will be doing lots more looking and studying.
