One thing I always hated about the show Gargoyles was the design of the character Una. She was supposed to be a unicorn, but I always thought she was incredibly hideous.I wanted to make her look more like a Scottish gargoyle, so no feathered wings or horse hind legs. I streamlined her ears a bit, and gave her a traditional unicorn tail. I gave her a real horn, instead of an ugly metal faceplate. Because of the horn, I figured she wouldn't need brow ridges and could actually have eyebrows instead. I also changed her outfit to something a little more sexy, since I always thought gargoyles could've updated their wardrobe from time to time... Her talons still don't look quite right, but I was never very good at Gargoyle hands.
Since she was based on a unicorn, my favorite mythological animal, I wanted her to be pretty. I like her, let me know what you think.

Very nice, some of the show Gargoyles were wonky when it came to trying to do "chimeric mammalian" designs. The horned humanoid faces, beaks, and such worked, not sure why they went the *winged furre* route with some...which could have worked but yeah, the Una character was way more "horse" than anything else.

omg THANK YOU!!! the artists should really take a leaf outta your book... this is much better... I get the feeling the artists just didn't know what to do with her when they had to draw her and the result was obviously not one of their bright points.. lol

Sorry this is like, YEARS late, but hey no problem!! Yea I always thought Luna looked a little too clunky... the show was awesome but I really wish there was mb a grown up version or something... lol only thing is it would probably be totally flubbed up or something.. >.<

It was the uniqueness, more than anything. Scottish gargoyles, Japanese, and English; I loved the distinction among regions.

I remember this character. and I agree with you completely and totally that she was beyond hideous XD.
it seemed like they just stopped trying when it came to the designs of the english gargoyles.
Anyways, I gotta say your interpretation of her is FAR more attractive. Good job

Haha, thanks! I get what they were doing with the English gargoyles, making them all more animalistic and whatnot (even in the comics, with Coco the boar gargoyle and Stagheart the...stag gargoyle) but Una was just SO UGLY. Hell, Leo was like twenty times better, and I hated his design too!

well I don't think Una's personality was exactly styling--hence the lack of sexy.
However, I do love this redesign. I agree with one of the above that the knees look a little wierd, but otherwise it's awesome. I like the foot desgin.

Yeah, she was pretty uptight. I'm actually tempted to re-outfit most of the characters from the show, just for fun.
Waaah, weird knees. Now that I look at it, I see that knee spurs are weird without the elbow and brow spurs to go with it.

I don't think she would have looked half as bad without those lips. On an otherwise equine face those stuck out like the proverbial sore thumb.
I like the outfit and what you've done to her body, though I think I'd still prefer a bit more horse-like face. It's somehow in the nature of the character, to me at least.

It really was the lips that got me. They made me go from being 'eh' about the character to going 'wtf?'.
Yeah, everyone seems to be half and half about that. Some seem to prefer to horse face, some seem to prefer the more humanoid face. I just happen to be part of the latter.

I like your wings a lot better. They really look they can slice through the air for some crazy speed. Her sleeves are done beautifully as well

I never minded that the British gargoyles were more animal-like, but Una definitely looked funny. I wanted to see her actual horn (great job there), and a REAL unicorn tail (another great job). I didn't mind her legs, and I kind of liked the feathered wings.

Haha, thank you! I actually didn't mind her feathered wings too much either, but I figured that if I'm in for a penny, I'm in for a pound and I kind of wanted to make her wings pink anyway.
Yeah, Griff and Leo look awesome, it's just Una they sorta failed at.

I agree about the bone spurs, but I like the less equine face. It reminds me of The Last Unicorn. I always hated Una's character design too, so its nice to see a redesign. And I love her ears!

Haha, thanks! I tried a more equine face, laughed, erased it and drew this one. I've always wanted to do a gargoyle of Lady Amalthea, right after she's turned from a unicorn, maybe I'll do that next...

I think if her face was slightly more equine somehow, without looking too dumb, it might be a little better. And her knee-flaps look a little odd...
Aside from that, it does look better than the freaky horse-chick that is the original design.

Yeah, the bone spurs at her knees. She needed to have SOME sort of bone...protrusion...because all the other gargoyles have them. I couldn't think of an unstupid way to give her a horse face. D:
