Herrad Legion General

Another important part of the Herrad Legion is the “Battle General” that serves as frontline leadership. Unlike the officers of most other nations, Herrad Generals lead by example right from the front, often spearheading attacks and bolstering defenses right from the ramparts. They’re not “Generals” proper in the usual sense of the word; in other militaries they’d be roughly equivalent to lieutenants – but to the troops they’re with, the stronger name is a morale boost. Generals are chosen as much for their imposing figure as their tactical capability, and, over the centuries, the General has been cultivated by the Church to become almost like another breed of human, much taller and stronger than average, some reaching seven and a half feet tall and weighing over 500 pounds. This selective reproduction process has led to higher rates of birth defects and genetic disorders, so a perfect General is seen as a gift from God. The imposing figure of the massive General is protected by high quality body armor that’s hidden below an ornate uniform, and his larger-than-life image is heightened with larger-than-life weaponry, such as handheld gatling guns, oversized swords and grenade launchers.
