Description This Sunday, I visited a Gypsy (Roma) camp close to my family's house for the first time. Needless to say, it was such a surreal experience. The conditions in which they live here in Brazil is simply unreal.

While drinking some coffee with them, a bunch of kids came running over literally begging to be photographed. So I took a bunch of photos and showed it back to them through the LCD preview screen. They absolutely loved it, so I promised to bring back actual printed photos for them to keep on my next visit. As you can imagine, they can barely wait.

I'll try posting a few shots here on dA for you all to see. This photo here is of one little blond gypsy boy. Not sure what his name is, but his reality is definitely "worlds apart" from most.. Hence the title.

it was actually in brazil but taken of a gypsy group, also called Roma.. not the city hehe.. although the city, Roma, was incredible!!

Oh how sweet
I could easily see by his eye's and the surrounding skin.
It had to be a brazilian - I even showed it to my mother, asking her what nationality the boy had.
1st wrong guess, but she was looking the wrong places. The hair might be confusing.
But it surely is a brazilian boy. I love the innocence he emits from his eyes, with a small smile in it.
But those same eyes seem to hide something that's not palpable. I'd say some sort of emptyness, but I might be wrong there.
I can imagine you had a great time amongst them - not to mention Brazil is a lot 'o fun from my memories anyways. When among friends, its great. When you're not, good chance it ain't :/
But I do wonder; is that background a gravely forest? or is it something else? (it looks oddly blue...)
I do hope you do not forget your part of the bargain though; it might have a great influence on their lives

thanks for the great comment. i guess the blond hair might confuse some concerning his nationality, but you're right: he is brazilian

the blue in the background is actually a blue tarp they use for their tents... blue tarps are very common here in brazil, not sure about where you are.

don't worry, i won't forget my part of the bargain. hopefully, i'll get the photos printed this week and take it to them on sunday again.

But I sadly do take my time to inform them sometimes :/
I'm sorry, I think my last comment made it feel (and I thought I had the time for it) that I'd be making more comments.
I wish I did, or could've. I had work, but I didn't do it much, so it just stretched taking more and more time as time passed.
In the end, I feel rather confused about the whole lot :/
But I hope I'll be able to comment on the many pictures you've made that I have saved in my inbox one day. there are atleast... 23 still there that might get a comment one day.
But I won't tell when that day comes
Oh, and; my pleasure as always.

about the tarps, I've been in cities, beaches and farmlands. I don't think I've REALLY been in the forests jet, but I intend to go back there on my own one day. Maybe I'll be making the pictures then (I hope they'll be good...)
