The rose is a strong symbol in our world; a symbol of passion, a symbol of love, and a symbol of beauty. It is also a symbol of strength, that in all those thorns can grow something so pure, so vibrant.And the Lady of the Rose is no different. She is strong, and passionate. She is loving and kind. She is beauty and light in an ugly world filled with darkness.

My Grandma Rose was hospitalized yesterday for a stroke. Doctors say it isn't something she will recover from. This drawing is in her honor, my grandmother, my Lady of the Rose.

She actually passed away a few days after I drew this. But she's in a better place, with my grandpa.

It is, especially when that grandmother was a vital part of your childhood. Sad to say to my other grandmother, I was just a number (my grandma Young had eight children so you can see) and she already had her favorites which was not me or my two brothers.
My other grandma treated all her grandkids equal, loved them all but I spent a good deal of time there. Not only did she help with my homework when I was stuck (like reading or that) just my stability block. Someone I knew who'd love me unconditionally no matter what happened.
Her passing hit me hard, still does from time to time.

She sounds like she was an awesome grandma.
I got kinda lucky with grandparents, due to divorces and such, I still have living grandparents. But she's my last grandparent by blood. Always nice to everyone, but proud, strong. I wanna be up there before she goes, but I don't think that's gonna be possible.

She was. People thought she was a timid thing. I heard when she was younger she was a shy country bumpkin.
Got her angry, you heard it. She was not shy about giving her opinion.

I'm sorry to hear about you grandma. My grandpa had a stroke back in February on my eldest niece's birthday, I know your family must be going through a lot right now. Will and I send good vibes to you and your family for your grandma's quick recovery. This is a wonderful way to honor your grandmother.

They're moving her to a hospice tomorrow, so aside from a random act from God, there's not much more time. She's been through enough these past few years that it might be a good thing. She got to the point where I don't think she wanted to keep on living.
