I hope you don't mind my presumption, I use this picture,
[link]
if you mind:
a. I apologize
b. will remove the picture as soon as I can point and click ( this is a temporary posting pending your approval).
(I am also sorry if I asked you before and forgot about itβ¦.)
c. I will not turn this into a print unless you ask me to.
How do I do it?
a. I use www.gimp.org --GIMP +picaasa 3.5 on the pic to make it look a bit more like an oil painting
b. I print out the pic and paste it on thick paper
c. using a pencil out line and pastel crayons I fill out the pic
d. I use my Canon to uplode the pic to my computer and use www.gimp.org --GIMP and picaasa 3.5.

That's beautiful; I like the fact that the sunlight is a glow, rather than the sun being distinct. The rocky mountain is just the right color, and they're contrasted quite nicely with the mountains in the far background, which are still brightly lit by the sun.
Scale seems hard to judge here - for a moment, I thought the mountain was a rocky crag, barely big enough to stand on. Then when I saw the whole picture, the gentle curves of the waterway in the foreground, where it approaches the viewer, fooled me for a moment into thinking it was a large river seen from far off, and that the viewpoint must be on a high cliff itself.

they are pretty impressive mountains - it is hard to tell what the scale is

There are so many pics taken around there (i've got a few myself), its nice to see an original one!!

thank you very much. It's definitely a photo - I played with the shadow/highlights in photoshop if I remember rightly and I think this has created the effect.

worked out really nicely..... I had a similar experience with a few images in my gallery - particularly a sunrise and sunset in which - I 'brought back' the colours.... however in your case perhaps the subject was kinder .... Love the painterly look to it once again!
