Description Mountain Thunder

Shot this past Wednesday on the top of Trailridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado. Standing at approximently 12,000 feet high, I took this shot, then hurried back in the car. Why? Well as the sign stated :

"Warning! If there is any indication of thunderstorms or lightning in the area, you should not make this hike. Remember: lightning has been known to strike up to 5 miles from the thunderhead and as the tallest object, you become a prime lightning rod! This applies to all areas above tree line!"

And now you know why. And as I sat here surveying the whole scene, like something out of the movie "The 10 Commandments"..... I did start singing "The hills are alive with the sound of mussssssssic!" I was awe struck, and this was a very hard shot for me personally considering my health as of late and the altitude I was at. I overdid it, but ya know, I think the price I paid was well worth it! Many, many more shots to come yet. Stay tuned!

Holy shit man, LOL. That's like end of the world freaky. I would have risked death for a shot like that too, really amazing. Is being stared in the face by huge, ominous black clouds like some kinda Colorado thing or what? Never in any country or at any altitude have I _EVER_ seen anything like that. Just got offered a job in Colorado, after this photo I don't know if thats a good thing or not haha. I might buy this one...

well thank you very much! There is NO greater compliment than someone having my work on their walls! Where in Colorado did ya get a job offer at? Here or NM is about the only places I could live that I have been to. Thought I hear VT and OR are incredible but have not been there. Yet.

That's fine, I'm way behind on finishing the article as well. Work load has been extreme, the baby has been fussy, and I've been spending time in Eve Online [link]

I'm considering some offers in Australia, it's kind of exciting. If I end up going, I'll photograph everything that will hold still long enough.

A hospital in Denver was looking for a Radioloogy Director, but my goal is to move back to San Diego where I grew up. Money has little meaning to me, it's happiness I want. I liked Oregon and Washington. Korea was nice, but not very diverse nature-wise. Florida and Georgia are kinda boring. SoCal is where it's at. Drive 30 minutes in any direction and you can choose between skiing, surfing, dune buggies or mountain climbing, or do all in the same day.
