Cain, the Cursed Cosmic Corsair

Funny to think that Curses even exists or thought of in the age of space travel, and indeed - this isn't so much of a curse as it is a warning
Just a part of a crew on a spaceship in a trade fleet, one day Cain's lover was kidnapped - snatched from his very hands - having him set out on a personal rescue mission following the wretched kidnapper. But while navigating alone, he fell into the hand of slave-trading aliens.
You see, humans are a precious commodity - while not particularly strong, they are highly adaptable and are sought after as either slaves owners or by collectors, some even finding themselves in a galactic zoo of sorts...if their lucky.
But humans are also determined and are a survivor species, and Cain was no different. Dragged from one trade-market station to another, he eventually managed to make a run-for-it with the last of his strength, catching his almost-owner by their cap that thanks to having their horns poking through it served as a lever to slam and stun the alien. Snatching the cap to hide his face, Cain scrambled across the station in search of any vacant ship or unattended individual cruisers, kicking off his long travel in search of safety.

Feeling a dire need to make sure he wouldn't be snatched again as well as increasing his survival and escape chanced, Cain turned to an acquainted alien race who specializes in bionics and augmentations, knowing that these modification would get collectors off his back as it'd diminish his value as a specimen, and the increased arms' strength along with enhanced internal organs would aid him with surviving longer space travel and fending off any potential looters looking for him.

Slowly, he had gathered a team of misfit aliens, offering them to join his crew as they travel the galaxies, constantly looking for the next foreseeable treasure - whether it'd be a new planet or another ship in their sights.

Crest:
On a personal note, the crest was fun to design. While not much of a family crest, it's more of a mark (and perhaps eventually a family crest should Cain start his own), drawing inspiration from the biblical "Mark of Cain" said to be a letter from ancient Hebrew that would ward off those who sought to kill Cain (the biblical murderer), who under divine protection was guaranteed that whoever brings harm to him would be punished sevenfold.
The Crest is carved into Cain's shoulder by his own doing, as a reminder to himself and as well as to other potential enemies that he will not go down to the low place of being offered as a slave - not without raining Hell on whoever dares to try.
His own name was also chosen by him, instead of his long forgotten given name, to signify this.

Lucky Cap:
While the memory it holds isn't the most pleasant, Cain has kept the cap of the alien who almost claimed him as a slave, one he had overpowered even before having his bionics, as a proof that it's more than just the augmentations that makes him a formidable foe. In his possession, it has the distinction of retaining an unneeded tear meant for horns to peek through, making it a clear trophy to be worn with pride.

Trusty Weapon:
Cain's bionic system includes mainly his two bionic arms, and a holo-visor integrated into his face as a minimal frame. The arms give his some level of "super strength" but it's them combined with the holo-visor's ability to show him the weak points and other data of his target that make him a smart opponent, if his speed and strength are outmatched
