Description Kelly Brook painting. All done in Photoshop. As I said before, I had the desire to play guitar the whole evening. So there was not much time for painting. Furthermore my internet connection was lost for a few days AND my computer got broken... But I'm back now - with a faster PC (maybe also with faster paintings? We'll see...)!

This piece took about 10 hours. Hope you like it!

Cheers!
Gerri

How do you do the hair without losing sanity, and under ten hours at that? o0? It's so detailed. *curious*

Thanks for your comment, mate!

No, I have to say that the hair was really easy this time. Black hair is always easier to paint. You don't need much variety of different contrasts or colors. Furthermore I use a good brush by "Adonihs" - perfect for hair. As I told to Kitty, I also use the dodge tool for more glance in her hair (again with an "Adonihs" brush! ).

Thank you. That is helpful advice, though I'm wondering more about drawing every little strand in order to make it more realistic. (Sorry, that may have been poorly phrased.) Is there a particular technique that makes it easier to do and gives a realistic result?

Wow this is awesome! I adore what you have done with her hair. And you play guitar - me too! How cool is that?

Hey Kitty! Thanks for your comment and the ! I know you use Painter for your artwork. I just can tell you how I do it in PS...
In Photoshop I use the dodge tool with a small dots brush. If you apply this tool for hair it becomes more glossy.

Yeah, I play guitar for a few years. Currently I listen a lot to John Mayer. So I have to play his songs on my guitar. The problem is that it's not easy to find good tabs. Another problem is that he's a masterclass guitar player and I am not!
What are you playing for songs?

Have a nice evening!

Hi Gerri! Thanks for the tips in Photoshop - I actually do quite a bit in that program as well. In fact I have found the dodge and burn tools are much better than the ones in Painter. I'll have to play around with your mini-tutorial you've turned me onto!

Guitar-wise I love so many styles ranging from blues, rock, and jazz to classical. John Mayer is definitely a fav of mine. I have been playing seriously for about 10 years now, and currently my growing edge is jazz - trying to learn to navigate all those changes, modes, etc. Lots of fun!

Hello Kitty,

just to extend the mini-tutorial: The brush I use for the dodge tool is by Adonihs (Texture Brush / 400): [link]

Oh, I'm playing for only 4-5 years... and NOW it's getting interesting! You listen to Jazz? Heard of Avishai Cohen, Brad Mehldau Trio, Diana Krall, The bad plus?

Thanks! And yes I listen to lot's of jazz - John Scofield, Mike Stern, and Pat Metheny are some of my favs as far as the guitar world goes. I didscovered Brad Mehldau through his work with Pat Metheny and really enjoy his piano work.

Hey Kitty! Ahh... I have to say, that I'm more the "jazz trio with bass, keys and drums"-fan! But maybe I just have to listen more to them in order to like it! Jazz is sometimes not easy and you have to listen to it again and again before you fall in love with it!
