Some concept character sketches for my up and coming Dream Quest to unknown Kadath project. There will be more sketches coming this week and hopefully next week sometime you all will see some finished concepts.Shocking and uncouth black things with smooth, oily, whale-like surfaces, unpleasant
horns that curved inward toward each other, bat wings whose beating made no sound, ugly prehensile paws, and barbed tails that lashed needlessly and disquietingly. And worst of all, they never spoke or laughed, and never smiled because they had no faces at all to smile with, but only a suggestive blankness where a face ought to be. All they ever did was clutch and fly and tickle; that was the way of nightgaunts.

I absolutely adore Dreamquest and these fellows are terrific. It's kinda like they've coalesced straight out the bits of HPL's imagery which are burned across the inside of my head from too many re-readings.
This is definitely a project to follow closely! Looking forward to sturdy riding zebras and mountains that walk

Wow! I LOVE this. You created a very clever concept with the creepy no-faces and handlike feet. You also did a great job giving each of them unique features, particularly horns and tails. Their wing bones look a bit too thick, wingbones tend to be very thin and delicate looking.
I can't wait to see what you do with this!

The first thing that will be coming will be rendered creature concepts and a character concept of the main character but after all that will come the full illustrations from the book.

This makes me really sore about losing my Lovecraft book, because if I had read it before losing it I might know what this is about. But all the same, this is very cool, and I think our shared interest in Lovecraft is what made me +Watch you to begin with. I will be watching your project unfold.

You know if you are looking to replace your Lovecraft book I would suggest getting this book [link] I own several different books of Lovecraft's stories and this book is by far the best collection of his work that I have ever seen, plus it is in a nifty leather binding. If you can't afford it you can always read it for free here. [link]
