Interesting question! I've got an explaination, but it's got a couple spoilers from some of the newer episodes so just a warning!

 Based on Peridot's words in "Too Short to Ride", we can assume that there's a possibility that gems have at least similar weapons. She says that Peridots, now weakened by the lack of resources, don't have powers. We know our Peri has mental powers, but she says that ALL Peridots need enhancements. Also in the Bismuth episodes, Bismuth tells Amethyst that no ordinary Amethyst could make a whip like hers. Now, considering Amethyst is supposedly a defective gem she might be an oddity, but Bismuth talks as if all Amethysts have whips but our Amethyst has a more powerful one. Now, would a non-fighting gem like a Pearl also have a spear like our Pearl? Maybe the type of weapon has to do with placement of the gem. I suppose they'll show more of the gems later in the show, but for now I suppose it's just up to speculation

Very interesting reply. I will take everything you've said into consideration.
I am working on a Smokey quartz Oc, and I don't want to just rip off SU's already established Smokey.
I would like to make my own, and try to keep it that way. But I was Wondering if using a yo-yo, ora yo-yo like weapon would just be lazy on my end.
