Well, I'm not the photographer, but to get this shot I'd have to shoot against the Sun with it just out of frame (It's the cause of the lens flare left of frame and level with KK's forehead) and use a fill-in flash (needs good gear, like the Canon in the metadata, or a wet film SLR and something like my Metz Mecablitz electronic flash unit. "Point and shoot" gear with built in flash won't cut it.) to get a useful exposure on the foreground.

Well, OK, I'd also need to get to work with KK to get this exact shot but the lighting setup is what you want to replicate if you're a cosplayer who wants better photos.

Ah, the light must handle differently further South then; I assure you I'd need to be able to spot meter or use fill-in flash to light this shot here in Scotland!

That explains it; That and I tend to think about UK location lighting unless I know the shot is somewhere else.
