This is a personal piece that I really felt the need to create, and I'm glad I stuck through it and followed my inspiration.

I thought it was about time to give Vynn a visual update.
I've redesigned the armor with a bit of inspiration from Fire Emblem (I really love the armor designs) and just generally changed things up in a way that I thought looked nice. I've learned quite a bit more about design theory since I've last "updated" Vynn, so I really wanted to see what I could come up with.

As for the painting itself, I wanted to push myself further and try something I haven't done before. And I really wanted to paint a lush forest scene like this-- it was actually really fun! I never thought I'd want to focus on an environment in this way but there's something about painting trees and grass and plants and things that I really enjoy.

The creation of this piece was quite a journey. The beginning was tough just trying to get a good figure down. Went through a few iterations until I finally got something I liked. Then I refined and played around with ideas, before starting the background, coloring the character, and so on. But basically-- it just took a pretty long time. And I started to feel pretty bad about how long it was taking. But in those times I think it's important to remind yourself that it's okay to go slow, particularly when you're learning or doing something you've never done before. It's not a quick process and that is okay.
