Description Another dragon design, and probably the last one I'll upload. I've done one more that is partly finished, but I don't really like it... I may come around to finishing it someday.

Breed description:

Araneolus Volatilisuris

Average lifespan: 30 years
Average length: from the tip of his beak to the base of his tail - 8 inches;from the tip of his beak to the tip of his tail - 24 inches
Average height: 2 inches
Found: all forests of the warm southern climate
Diet: blood

Araneolus Volatilisuris is the smallest dragon known to man. His color scheme makes him hard to spot in the forests. It mostly consists of variants of green, yellow and brown or even black, with a reddish trail of petal-like scales along his back. There happen to be specimens entirely red, but they're uncommon and more prone to getting killed at the younger age.

Like a spider, this dragon has eight legs; the major difference is that they are connected by a flight membrane, thus forming his wings. His flying pattern is similar to this of a hummingbird, rapid moves of his wings keeping him up and enabling a range of moves other dragons would be unable to do.

Unlike other dragons, he does not breathe fire or any kind of flammable fluid. He relies mostly on his size and speed together with his highly poisonous venom. The spine at the end of his tail injects the neurotoxin into his oppressor's circulatory system, paralyzing him almost instantly.

The Humming Spiders feed of blood of herbivores, such as deer, through his tube beak. Great sense of smell and good sight make it easy for him to spot his prey. Once he catches it and attaches to it's skin with his talons, it's very hard to get him off before he finishes his meal. He doesn't usually venture to human selltlements, but tends to be a real neusance during the hunting season when his usual meal is scarce.

Being cold-blooded animals with no internal fire, the dragons of the south tend to sleep over the winter. This particular breed does so burying themselves under the ground, most likely in places where a thick cover of dead leaves and undergrowth would protect the ground underneath from freezing over at the top.

Araenolus are mostly loners, finding their solitary shelter in the undergrowth. They gather together only once every five years, for the mating season. Every female lays up to 50 eggs that hatch after six months of laying buried in the fertile ground. Only 10% of the litter lives through the egg stage and the first few weeks after the hatching (when their venom isn't present yet). The parents do not look after their offsprings, who spend their lives mostly alone, maturing after 3 years.

The color pattern and his features have always made the locals fear him and make a name "Little Devil" cling to him. The drawings of him are often spotted in the temples praising the God of Fear, where he is associated with little demons that are the god's mischievous servants.

Yeah, I realized that only after I finished the pic. XD I think my brain might have taken the Face Hugger for an unconscious inspiration.

Thank you for the fav.
