Personality: Jian’s incredibly soft spoken and doesn’t often initiate a conversation. He takes a bit of tooth-pulling to get his true opinions and thoughts out. However, it is not to be said that he is not a push-over. He will stand for what he believes for, despite being right or wrong. With people he is close to, Jian makes a 180 degree turn, becoming vocal and bothersome. He won’t leave people he cares about alone or give them too much rest from his hovering presence.
By growing up with his grandfather, who was occasionally frigid when Jian got in trouble, he learnt that an absence of contact and silence is capable of being the ‘sharpest sword’. He holds this saying in high regard. Jian looks up to his late grandpa, keeping all the lessons taught to him fresh in thought daily – especially sword practices.
He may come off a bit hard to talk to and distant at first, but with experiences shared and time, Jian will warm up.

Pre-Apocalyptic History: Jian grew up with his grandfather, who raised him, since his parents were divorced and neither wanted to keep him. He knew his parents vaguely, meeting them once or twice a year, but held little emotional relation to them. Consequently, because he lived with his grandpa only, he learnt how to speak Chinese as a mother tongue. He was home schooled up until he was 14 and then much to his consternation, his grandpa sent him to school – where he learnt English. He made friends with some difficulty, but he got by. He had few trusted friends in school, keeping only two classmates close.
From a young age, his grandpa enrolled him in WuShu training – which results in his knowledge and prowess with wielding weapons; his main weapon that he chose as a boy was the sword. He is relatively fit and flexible as well, as demanded from the Chinese practice.

Post-Apocalyptic History: When Judgement Day came, Jian lost his grandfather to an Anti-God in the chaos. He’d run from their home, taking a bare minimum change of clothing and his sword. Not knowing where to stay, Jian kept moving around, looking for something. Without knowing what it was, he kept travelling in search of it – what he assumed to be a place he belonged and would be safe. A second residence. Soon enough, he had found what he was looking for: the God his lineage served.
After Jian met the Tengu, from that point on, he followed him closely, not knowing where else to go. At the very least, he figured he was safer with a companion than travelling on his own.

Additional Info:
Jian’s got a knack for dressing in clothes with poor English on them. They remind him of the clothing his grandfather would give him as presents. Back then, neither of them would know any better that there were mistakes printed on the fabric, but even now – when Jian is more fluent and aware of the glaring faults – he wears the shirts and enjoys picking them out while shopping.
A bit of a sore loser when it comes to battle and goes quiet (quieter than usual) for lengthy periods of time once he’s defeated – really, he should be more thankful that he’s still alive.
Regularly, Jian cuts his own hair whenever the small tail grows too long for his liking (when it hits the bottom of his neck).
He misses his grandpa.
