I did this for a competition a little bit ago. The characters are Sabin Duvert and Samantha-whatever-the-rest-of-her-name-is.
It didn't win, but I like it anyway, particularly the lamps. Sabin's owner is ~arania here on dA, and she's a good wolf artist, so go check her stuff out.

It isn't in horror/macabre since it isn't showing anything particulalry horrific (which is, I'm sure, the only thing in that category), despite the fact that the characters come from TSR's Ravenloft campaign I think. No one is dying or bleeding....and there aren't any monsters there except Sabin, who is being refined atm.
