This drawing was inspired by one of the songs that I like It's called Don't Fear The Reaper by Blue Oyster Cult. I used Photoshop to adjust the lighting because when I took the photo it came out dark. This song is about eternal love not anything demonic.So yea I hope you like it.
This was drawn with mechanical pencil.

I was actually practicing with this one. Thanks to my art teacher giving me some advice on shading.

I used to shade lighter than this because I thought I would ruin it.

I use mechanical pencil on hair too, though I usually shade it first with something else. It works really well.

I usually use either my 6B woodless graphite, held at an angle, and make LONG strokes, or I use a dirty smudging/blending tool to do the same for lighter hair. I wish I could take video.

I took really awful blurry progress photos last time I was working on some light hair, to share with TayleRX, did you want to see them too? I've got them uploaded in my photobucket, so I can share a link. It's all I can manage at the moment, until I have a way to do video (thinking of asking my friend).

Wow they are very lovely my favorite was Sebastian's WIP I love the details with the muscles and everything, also excellent shading very beautiful.
I'm still having a bit trouble with male anatomy, female anatomy is easy for me, but males have alot of muscles and it's a bit challenging for me.

I need a lot more practice with male anatomy. I need to finish that Sebastian portrait. I got intimidated by doing his hair, but I've had a lot more light hair practice since then, so maybe I could manage it now.
I want eventually to have a pretty good mental map of a nicely muscled man, so that I can just pose him in my head, and draw him, and scale his shape according to my characters. So far, I'm working on getting the face mapped in my head properly. It takes me a while, and a lot, a lot of practice. *grin*
Have you tried doing a direct translation portrait, like Sebastian there, or my portraits of Toby. Something to help familiarize you with how the muscles lay, and where the shadows tend to hit, that sort of thing?

I will start scanning my eyes on the muscles you draw and the shading so it will help me picture how the male muscles and shadows are suppose to be, as long as I remember how you draw them I might do well, thank you.

Do you see where his blonde hair, highlighted by the sun cuts across his chest, which is shadowed? That's going to be sooo tricky to do right. I have to leave that area white, and shade around it, and still manage to make his shoulders look right behind the hair, without messing the hair up. Eeep! Yeah, I just got intimidated. Toby was MUCH easier to draw than Sebastian. The photo's of Sebastian had much more texture to his skin, and I'm still not sure how much of that will carry across in a pencil portrait.
