I do like this; well drafted and balanced as a piece - and with more subtle colouration than usual in MOTU, some of which is way too garish in tone.
Well done.

Awesome classic rendition! I personally like the 2002 remake much better, but without the original, the remake wouldn't have existed at all.
Excellent artwork!

Yes - I'm a big MYP/MVC fan too. Good to point this out to those unfamiliar with it. Many assume Filmation is all there is.
You might like this - which has just started to be posted by chapters. It's a really compelling tale - and has a strong 2002 series vibe to it.

Yeah, I recommend this story too. It's started out just great - and lots of folks seem to agree.
Β Amazing artwork too. Something in common with the quality on show here.

I hope that you will read and enjoy it.Β I think it's tremendously good - after only one of the 12 chapters - and with some splendid atwork, too.
I shall be interested to hear what you think.

I've finally gotten a good chance to read "Though Heroes Fall" and it's actually pretty good. I've just begun to read through part two recently. I like the blend of the old and the new that it has.
I've managed to get about halfway through Part 2 of the story and will continue from there. One thing that I'm struggling to grasp is the fact that Teela is a damsel in distress in the 1980's He-man. I'm so used to the 2002 remake's Teela it's strange for me see her put in the "captive princess" role.

Thanks for following my recommendation; I certainly like the story a lotΒ - and I agree that there's a hybrid feel to it - a blend of the old and the new together. That's part of the appeal, I find.
This version of Teela is younger (as is Adam) than Filmation, it would seem - but also less of the hardened warrior than the MYP version. It's an intriguing idea.
But I wonder if the whole 'damsel in distress' element here is a ploy and nothing much more. The intro. to the story rather infers that (I think.)
Β Either way, it's going to be interesting following what happens as the tale unfolds.

You're welcome. It was very worth it. The story proves that both the old and new can coexist together to make something amazing.
Ah, that makes sense. I was assuming that the story's version of Teela was the official version. Now I know. I don't find the whole idea that appealing though as it's overused in way too many movies. I'm not a feminist or anything, but I do hate it when women are portrayed as stupid, weak and helpless.
The damsel and distress scenario does seem to be a ploy, but I wish it could've been something else. Oh well, I'm sure that the story in general will continue to be promising.

It does have its appeal, I find, that synthesis.
Maybe you are right about the whole damsel thing - even as a ploy. But I shall wait and see what happens. There may yet be more to it than that - and I get the distinct impression that this Evil-Lyn is FAR from stupid, weak or helpless!
But why don't you make your comments to the author direct? He seems quite open and approachable - and there's a healthy amount of discussion of just this type goes on there with some very enjoyable to-and-fro between writer and artist and commentators. I'm sure your thoughtful input would be valued - and we really ought not to be hijacking this thread!

Very much agreed. By the way, there's two He-man fan fiction authors that I know of that I think you may like. These ladies are some of my favorite authoresses ever. (They've also written a collab story together called "Stumbling into the Light")Β

I should, but I figure it's his story so I'll just let him go with it. And I do agree,no need to clog up the comments section. Maybe we should continue via note if you want.

Great! I'm happy to hear that you liked it!Β Β
How far did you get? Did you get to the Snakemen arc? My fave characters: King Hiss and General Rattlor. I also am a big fan of Zodac, The Faceless One, Sorceress, Teela, Queen Marlena, Roboto, and Buzz-Off.
Other villains I like: Skeletor, Evil-Lyn, and Count Marzo.
I'm sorry to spoil it a bit for you, but the 2002 remake was cancelled after the second season. So characters that would've appeared later (like Adora, more of Hordak and the Horde, etc) are a no show. However, there is a comic of the 40th episode that was made as a special feature on the DVD. I'll try to link it to you.

For as many hand-to-hand contests of combat these two have had, you would think one of them would have done the other in by now!
