Description I've been pretty busy lately, and haven't had much time to go out and shoot much of anything. So, I went to the zoo today, to get warmed up for spring.

This photo was waken at the Pittsburgh Zoo of the new baby gorilla and its mother, Moka. The baby is male and is about 4.5 weeks old in this picture.

I waited about 20 minutes for some type of interaction between the mother and her baby, and finally was rewarded. There was one point, about 10 minutes in, where the mother almost dropped her baby, and reacted just like a human mother would, and checked the baby out, making sure no harm was done.

I can't say enough how much I love this photo! I'm supposed to be going to see it this weekend hopefully to get some photos of my own. Doubt they will be this impressive though Featured here [link]

Thank you! Since this comment is from a few weeks ago, I will assume that you've gone already, so I will have to check out what you captured. I'm in the process of trying to get this photo displayed in the zoo, so hopefully next time you go, it might be there!

Any word yet on if the zoo would like to hang your photo? I'm supposed to go again in June. Hoping I can get some better quality photos of the baby. I had to zoom in as far as my camera would go, so definietly not great photos. I like some of the moments I captured at least. I'm pretty excited about the baby black rhino we are getting in the fall

Oh me too! Nothing official yet. I had two people say yes, but I am waiting on the third and final person's permission. I will wait patiently until I hear either way. I remember seeing them on my facebook feed, they looked good! I must have been in a hurry that day, since I didn't comment. Just because you don't have a ridiculous camera, doesn't make the moment any less special!

As far as the rhino is concerned, that is awesome, and I'll be there!

Good Luck! I at least got to see Razi & Ajani last visit. I got lucky enough that Ajani was sitting fairly close to to the glass and also got to see them eating which I have never seen before.

Thanks! It took me three trips around the gorilla exhibit to find the little guy. He is really hard to see, especially because Moka hides him a lot. I finally saw him in the glass enclosed area right as you come out of the monkey house. It was exciting to see him, but the real challenge was trying to shoot through the glass. Best of luck!
