This is fanart for Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. Yes, the musical. Shut up, I love it. I guess since Sweeney Todd and Mrs. Lovett actually existed, this is technically historical art too. Huh.

ANYWAY, this is, of course, our title character Sweeney Todd and Mrs. Lovett, his devoted accomplice. I thought they were a cute couple. Well, until he pushed her into the furnace and all that *cough* The picture was inspired by my favorite song in the show: "A Little Priest", which serves as the finale to act one. It's the moment when Todd has committed his first murder, and while wondering what to do with the body Mrs. Lovett hits on the idea of cutting him up and baking him into a pie -- and making an industry out of it. Pleased with their new plan, the duo caper about and dance and act all lovey-dovey and sing a song that is basically a long string of puns about cannibalism.

Have I mentioned how deeply I adore this musical?

I wonder if I should tag this as 'mature content'. The idea is sort of charming, and that's an awful lot of blood, but on the other hand no violence is actually going on in the picture. I think I'm getting into EC-Comics-Senate-Proceedings territory with this deliberation.

Oh, and the background is awfully shitty. Sorry.
