Oh no, what kind of multi-verse fourth-wall ...thing... is this? A recreation of a scene in the second G4 episode, done in the style of the first G1 special.When I was little I saw this special a lot. Not because I wanted to, but my sister liked it, and she'd choose it everytime it was her turn. I "didn't like it", since it was for girls, and things for girls were bad. Which A) really doesn't make any sense, since I am a girl? and B) I was totally lying to myself, I actually did like it. The first 10 times.
Anyway, I tried to mimic the art-style of the original episode as best as I could, because I really liked it. Like, compare it to other episodes of the same generation, and you'll see how much better the first one was. The ponies looked like ponies, while still being cute and not ...marshmallows.

Well, I didn't put much thought into this other than "I like the G1 style, let's draw the mane six using it", but considering that this is the g4 episode just in the style of g1, I'd say probably not ^^

I'm glad you like it ^^ Well, in the episode he was sleeping in the library while the others went to the everfree, so I'd imagine that's where he is in this version too. And there is a purple-pink and green dragon named Spike in G1, so I'd think he'd look pretty much the same as that version

This is fantastic, I love it! I hope they eventually do stuff like this after the FIM cartoon runs out, go back and do one-off special episode mashups with swapped styles and stories.

The toys did come with them, a brush and a few other accessories. The Big Brother ponies came with bandana's they wore around their neck a hat, and a brush.

I think I only ever saw it after becoming a Brony: my childhood memories of G1 are season 2 of the 'n Friends series, which was not a highlight of the G1 era, though it did have them and I think the first special's a great part of that! Adventure and villains and seaponies!

Thank you! ^^ I actually only saw a few of the episodes, since my sister preferred to watch the first special and the movie over and over ..and over... again. So whan I watch now it's a strange mix of nostalgia, due to the art-style and the voices, yet having no idea what's going to happen.

You did an excellent job of it. I have fond memories of the g1 ponies one of the many cartoons my cousins and I enjoyed when little.
Is there any chance you'd accept a commision of rendering my OC in this G1 style? He was based off of something i drew as a child that my mom had stowed away in the attic.

So true! The G1 ponies looked so much better, more cute and more natural with the horsey muzzles and their smaller eyes. Actually the G4 ponies don't look like horses at all.

Yeah, I think I prefer the first g1 designs, but I do actually like the g4 designs too. They're sort of doing their own thing and not trying so hard to make pony-looking ponies look cuddly. The point was more about how much the quality changed between the first special and the rest of g1. (And maybe a gibe towards the g3 designs. Sometimes, that animation looked terrifying )
