Long story short, I really enjoyed the new Superman movie, Superman Returns. I went in to it with some worries but came out all smiles. I thought Brandon Routh made a great Superman. And obviously, when I like something I tend to make fanart of it. Plus, I'm a sucker for a good profile.Anyhow, this was drawn on watercolor paper with brown colored pencil and then painted over with a series of black ink washes to establish a base for me to work from when coloring. All color was then added in Photoshop using my tablet. It was finished in July of 2006. Obviously, the character Superman is owned by DC. Full view is recommended!

superman came out in 1938 of may not sure of the day but he is a 74 year old superhero in the comic realm. go supes. im still trying to find the actual day the first issue came out of action comics cause i want to start a superman holiday day thing. would love help from fellow superman fans.

In my opinion, You've captured the spirit of Superman perfectly.
He's calm. Collecting. He has the worlds weight on his soldiers but he won't give up. He's a hero.. I really love this picture.

Holy mother of Krypton, this is great! Perfect actually. I love the compositiona and your use of the colours, the way you didn't make any of them too bright OR dilluted. Everything in this complements the other parts perfectly.
Yeah, I think a lot of people were pretty nervouse when it came out. But persnally I loved it and was very happy with Routh's performance. The fact that he does resemble Reeve was a gigantic plus.

He was a great Clark Kent/Superman! But he's being replaced by this Henry Cavill, who imo looks nowhere near either character...

This is outstanding. Coincidentally, I had just written a journal about Superman. And while I didn't mention Bryan Singer's film, I've gotta say I think Brandon Routh made an absolutely perfect Superman. I own all of the movies and pull them out when I'm depressed. I shudder to think about the upcoming re-boot. Enough on that. This piece just literally popped off the page and blew me away. Magnificently and reverently done. Just wow. Wow.

What tablet did you use? I'm trying to purchase one but my knowledge base is pretty slim as of right now.

Mine is a 9x12 Intuos2 by Wacom. I've had it for at least 6 years now. I love the Intuos series in general. They last for a while (mine has even survived being dropped down the stairs) and they work great. They have newer versions of mine available now.
