This picture was inspired by an art trade between myself and TallyCat . She suggested a handsome sailor with dark hair and blue eyes, and since I always enjoy drawing a pretty face I thought that it seemed like a great suggestion. In return, she drew me not just one , but two pictures of my pirate character, Liam . So enjoy the pretty sailor boy, TallyCat !
I had fun making it. 
The sailor's face was inspired by a photo of the actor who played Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. When I'm drawing someone, it helps me to have a photo to look at. Just makes drawing bone structure and stuff easier. As such, it's not meant to look exactly like that actor, since it's a loose inspiration. I figured I should just go ahead and mention that inspiration though, to save people from asking me about it in their comments. The ship, sky, and ocean are all based on photographs that I've taken. This was all painted in Photoshop with my tablet and was completed in January of 2006.

Whoa!! Very handsome indeed! At first glance, I didn't even realize the similarities between him and "The Guy Who Played Cedric Diggory". Lol. Funny that that's what Robert was known for back in the day...
I very much like this picture. I've had an idea for a story in my head for a long time, part of it is written out, and this is like exactly how I picture my main character. And it's also kind of a pirate story, so it's very coincidental!!

It makes me think a lot of a french comic hero,Yann de Kermeur. If you added a scar over the left eye and made the hair long it would be exactly him. Great work.

It's absolutely stunning
There is a look of such adventure, and challenge in his eyes it is just...amazing
But the boat and the sky add such a beautiful effect that doesn't lead you away from his face, nor his eyes (which I can't seem to stop staring at) but at the same time are interestingly beautiful.
To sum it up, simply incredible.

I'm so glad that you get a story out of my pictures. I like when pictures have a story behind them, so I usually try to convey that feeling when I make a picture. As you can tell, I'm very much influenced by books and films.

thats incredible, i love the intensity of his gaze. the framing is really effective it helps to give a sense that there's more to the world than just that snapshot, fantastic skintones and perspective on the sea - adds to the depth. The sea itself is amazing, despite being almost every colour imaginable it looks so real, the sky is perfect, the clouds are awesome, the lights on them are spot on. Overall
