Description
This is a promotional one sheet poster for the short animated film [UN]RAVELLING APOLLO by Kimberly Maurice.She was going to be submitting the film for funding, and wanted a spiffy poster will help catch the attention of people.
Obviously, the characters pictured in the poster are all hers, so I was working within the constraints of her designs and descriptions. It was a pretty neat story that involved one character being drawn into the world of his comic book, hence the illustrated look for the poster. This was a fun project to work on as we sent ideas back
and forth to each other about how the poster should look. I think it turned out nicely, and Kim was really happy with it.
Like most of my work lately, this is a composite of digital painting in Photoshop with my tablet and pencil and ink drawings and paintings that I did on watercolor paper. From June of 2006.

Thanks! The wings all have to do with the main character's story, plus it's a reference to the Apollo mythology.

The film is still kind of a work in progress for her. But hey, the more film promo posters I get to do for people, the better as far as I'm concerned! It's a fun thing to do.

I meant to ask you the first time I saw this, if this is for a film, then you based the poster off of the actors? Just curious.
I like this. Of course, I have a weakness for anything with feathered wings so I am decidedly biased. Even then, I bet I would still like it.

She named a few, and we went from there.
