OMG! if I laughed any harder, you'd be able to hear it, no matter where you are compared to me! I remember playiing the game and just thinking "?" about the whole thing. I think I tried everything to get my other Raichu to evolve. I thught I would never get a full pokedex (I did, though! yay for friends who wanted to stop played when you didn't! xpesially when they went to the Mew event and you dint....)

Yay, I made someone laugh and simultaneously brought back nostalgic memories! And thanks for faving! ^^
Yeah, when I "realised" Raichu could evolve, supposedly, I wondered if we'd ever get to see this thing later in the game. Because I just couldn't imagine it happening, yet since it was in the game I took it as fact. It spawned loads of bizarre ideas on how to actually get this Raichu thing. It was so fun to trick friends into doing ridiculous stuff to try and get it.

If it took them a week to make Cinnabar it must've taken them about 3 hours to make all the PokΓ©mon sprites (they were worse >_<) Hmm... I don't beleive I tried the Mew glitch. All the ones I can remember off the top of my head were Cinnabar related. I do remember trying saving on top of a cut tree to stand on top when it reappears. A bit pointless though.

Jacktoon In reply to feelioncat [2010-02-25 17:53:44 +0000 UTC]
I think the cut trees reappeared when you left the area/route. I think if you cut a tree, stood on the spot it was and saved it, if you reset you would be standing on the tree. It was just one of those random glitches.

π: 0 β©: 1
Jacktoon In reply to JuggalettaGurl [2010-02-25 17:02:12 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, good point, Ch'ding was a bit random. At the time anyway. But some people take the CH part of Ch'ding to be short for Critical Hit (and Farfetch'd can get more crits with it's Stick which makes sense.) That, and Ch'd- were the last three letters of its name. An Electrode called Doris just doesn't make any sense at all. @_@

Lol @ pokegag! Gah. I wished I'd played Red and Blue the whole way through... I got it after I got silver, so I wasn't all that interested. But Lol anyway! Red's expression is ace. Definitely cartoon/comic material.

What, srsly? You havn't lived until you've got your own Doris.
Lol, I thought that guy was the most annoying thing in the game, more or less.
I still think Red's expression could've been better, but at least it's an improvement over the one in my scraps (and to a degree, the one of Brendan in that comic I did a while ago.)
Did you leik my old-Sugimori mock? Or wasn't it similar enough to notice?

DunnyCT In reply to Jacktoon [2010-02-03 22:10:07 +0000 UTC]
I did, but I always thought that sugimori's old style wasn't a colouring technique per-say, more... a lack of it. He left loads of big white spaces. Did you use a ref?
π: 0 β©: 1
Jacktoon In reply to DunnyCT [2010-02-03 22:14:41 +0000 UTC]
Yeah I know, I was trying to take the mick out of it, but I don't think I left enough patchy white bits. I didn't really use a ref, rather, I looked for loads of his old Gen 1 artwork to get a feel for the style. Thing. But yes, I used a pic of Red for the colours and gen 1 outfit.

What, the squiggly thing to the left of Red's head? Yeah, it works I guess, but now I think about it, it looks stupid on its own. I either should have made all the puffs into spirals, or removed the spiral and putt another puff there.
Either that or its not big enough

Heh yeah, when your little, your brain can't even imagine such a thing was even possible >_< which is why you kind of had to sit there trying to imagine it, heck I bet some kids even shared their ideas of it with each other. Because everyone believed this evil, evil person.
And Doris. @_@

Acorn-Tree In reply to Jacktoon [2010-02-03 14:13:53 +0000 UTC]
Haha. Furreal. I had a whole little group at school and we all played pokemon games and we would help each other and stuff. I can STILL remember a big group discussion about Doris and the non exsistant Raichu evolution. We called it Impchu. (IMPpossible) Lol. We were lil nerds.
π: 0 β©: 1
Jacktoon In reply to Acorn-Tree [2010-02-03 14:23:00 +0000 UTC]
Hah, Impchu! But still, that was half of the fun with the old games. Everyone used to talk about it and throw around wild theories and speculations and everyone would beleive anything, so people would start bragging that they'd done stuff they hadn't. Like, found a way to get said Raichu evolution o_0 And it was fun to disprove and create your own random theories. Aah, good times. The little kids don't do that now...
π: 0 β©: 1
Acorn-Tree In reply to Jacktoon [2010-02-03 21:40:29 +0000 UTC]
Yeah!
And I totally know what you mean. But then, I dont think little kids have the ability to do that anymore. If you look at the new pokemon series and (dare I say it) even some of the new games, their so watered down and lacking in anything original, theres nothing for them to really spring ideas FROM. @.@
π: 0 β©: 1
Jacktoon In reply to Acorn-Tree [2010-02-03 22:02:39 +0000 UTC]
Uhuh, that's true! I mean, back in the first generation while it was relatively new, it was easy to believe in stuff that you'd never thought of before. That's why there were so many, say, Mew rumours. But now the series is four generations in, all the older fans know what to expect, while the younger ones can assume things from the huge number of monsters there are now. Yeah, they can't really spring any wild ideas because, say, a Raichu evo now wouldn't be as crazy as it sounded over 10 years ago, what with just about everything getting stupid evos now. And yeah, I agree its pretty watered down too; it makes certain pokemon less "valuable" meaning no stupid rumours show up a la mew.
And that's why it's easy to take the mick out of it.
It pretty much went downhill since the start, to a degree.
π: 0 β©: 1
Acorn-Tree In reply to Jacktoon [2010-02-03 22:09:26 +0000 UTC]
*nods*
Although I will say; I went to a gamestop to rebuy the yellow version (I had given my other one away to a friend who just couldn't stop playing mine xD) and I got a used version because by then they weren't selling color games new anymore. I checked out the profile that was already on there and they had the standard pikachu, a pidgy, and a level ten mew.
Hm. I'm not sure that it went downhill since the start. I truelly believe that it started to go downhill when Pokemon became famous. It became less about the joy, the plot, the characters, and more about money money money. In the begining, it was genuine. It got famous and they lost it all.
π: 0 β©: 1
Jacktoon In reply to Acorn-Tree [2010-02-03 22:22:30 +0000 UTC]
I guess the Mew on Yellow was because everyone thought it was cool to hack/glitch mews >_< people ended up finding lots of ways to alter the game to get it. And it was half the fun too.
Well, okay, I guess it didn't go downhill from the start. The first two generations were fine. I think Gen 3 ruined it. As you said, I think that's when they started milking the series to get everyone's money. They totally rebooted the series by making it incompatible with older games, so they could release remakes of the old games so you had to buy them to get the old PokΓ©mon. And then they made the "third versions" that hardly changed anything yet made people compelled to buy what was virtually the same game (Yellow and Crystal were fairly different, yet Emerald didn't bring anything particularly new to the table) o_0
Most older gamers hated the heck out the the third generation, so yeah, that's where it all went wrong. As you said again, it couldn't beat the fame of the orignal four base games.
