Description I don't usually post photos here, but this one is just near and dear to my heart. Tabitha was my first cat and the one that made a cat hater learn to love these wonderful little creatures to the point that I now have two others that are wandering around, looking for their sister.

This little girl spent the last 15 years laying on my desk as I worked on any number of silly art projects, often helping by initiating the random shortcut on the keyboard. To that end, everything in my gallery was done under her watchful eye and occasionally included her aforementioned personal touch.

After a valiant fight against the inevitable renal failure, Tabitha died in my arms last night and is already missed. Rest in peace, Tabitha. You were a sweetheart and little scrapper that didn't take shit from anyone ...the best $11.99 I ever spent.

Quite late in the coming, but I gotta say that's quite a story. I know how you feel when she passed, I've had a cat pass when I was in kindergarten. Almost 40 yrs later and I still remember it like it was yesterday, very sad.

I noted the date you submitted this picture, a little after I got my cat, Max (in my gallery, Aug 2010) when he was about a few weeks old. Two years later and I'm starting to wonder how I'm gonna handle it when he passes, he's given me so much when he thinks he's taken my house away LOL

Love your picture here, friend, glad you shared your story!

Thanks for the kind words, Wolfie. It's never easy to say goodbye to our furry friends, but that just makes our time with them all the more special

You're absolutely welcome, friend! Funny, today I just made a "redneck" cat door on my screen door. Max is sometimes caught climbing up the screen trying to get out, so I let him out. Last night he finally loosened up the bottom (the rubber that tucks the ends in the door), so I took the bottom part of the rubber out, then tucked it back in without the screen being tucked so he can jump in and out as he pleases, at the same time I can keep the bugs/flies/mosquitoes out. 4 hours later, that cat's been in and out 15 times lol, think he loves it Yep, our furry friends are so special, they change our lives as well as our houses lol

I'm sorry to hear that, my condolences. I am also a former cat hater, and now I can't imagine a house without them. The one who "turned" me is now gone also, but I am forever grateful to him for changing my mind.

Nothing can be said to lessen the loss of your dignified, gentle, loyal little friend. I have my own tiny art critic who sits on my feet for hours while I render. She just turned 18 this month and has been with me since I rented my first apartment, through 3 houses, the birth of twins, the addition of 2 dogs, another cat, and one (now-ex-)husband. I will be lost when she goes. My heart goes out to you.

I'm very saddened to hear of her passing. Our companion animals, especially for those of us who work as freelancers from home, interweave their lives with ours, becoming close friends and even family. I, too, have a feline boss who insists on adding his input to every project I work on. My thoughts go out to you, JCD.
