Description A rusty crayfish I drew for a professor that edited a paper for me. Unfortunately, the drawing is not this color at all, but until I get photoshop for this computer I can't really adjust anything. Just imagine that the whole thing a little more sandy tan colored. I will edit this as soon as I get some new software.

colored pencil on sand colored matte board, 8x10"

Oh no! Pretty sure these are invasive where I live. All the better reason to study them. Aren't crustaceans fun to draw?

Beautiful crayfish! I like the shiny lighting and the attention to detail. Is this Procambarus clarkii?

Thank you! It's supposed to be an Orconectes rusticus: I drew this for a professor that studies these funny little crustaceans

Ah, somehow I failed to notice the name in the deviation title. Silly me. I think I have seen this species before, though only online.

There is a great free
Photo editing program called "The Gimp".
It has great features and is not too big.
It works a lot like Photoshop, including layers.
Just an idea....

I actually have heard about that- I have a friend who swears by it. And it's free, you say? I will definitely look into this...

I really like all the detail you included in this and the anatomy seems correct (not that I am very familiar with crayfish anatomy).

thanks! I'm not exactly a crayfish expert either, but I figured it needed to be pretty damn accurate to impress a someone who studies them for a living!

Oh, I was wondering why you decided to draw a crayfish for your professor. Crayfish are not a very common drawing subject.

You're welcome!
