Bill would like me to relay to you, that this is "good form!!" and is officially a fan of your work.

Please tell Bill "Thank you very much". He is far too kind (since he and I both know that my forward leg is sloppy). But, as I am so fond of disclaiming, it's stock, for god's sake. And if we can't post a little (or, in my case, a lot) of slop in the name of art, beauty, and fun, then to heck with it!

Am i correct in assuming that we are talking about J.W. Haynes (W for William for Bill ??? ) If so, please tell him for me that we would like to see more of his own work, post freakin' haste!

If that is not who we are talking about, then I an denying all knowledge of this conversation... O.o

lindowyn-stock In reply to jademacalla [2007-09-27 04:48:27 +0000 UTC]

Yes. J.W. stands for John William, and he has this tendency of reading over my shoulder, so he saw your thumbnail and went EE! and poked my moniter... He himself doesn't have a dA account because much of his artistic expertise is spent painting Space Marines, so he'd not seen your stuff before. He may just have run back to his computer to check it out. (he ran back to our room for whatever reason regardless. Kind of like a cat...he gets night crazies.)

And yes. There are plans (a request, actually) for Bill and I to pose as (and this makes me laugh) a pair of WoW warlocks "being snuggly and cutesy" while casting. I have the worst time doing that...so it should be a stitch. It should also be a stitch getting him into a wig..but its coming soon. *ominous music here*

I love his outfit

HE DIDN'T DROP HIS HAAAND!!!

That is one whimpy lunge... my trainer would be disappointed.

RelativelyBest [2006-11-21 20:59:03 +0000 UTC]

Actually, seeing as that's obviously a lunge, it's not in the wrist at all. (But I suppose that's the joke.)

Still, it IS a nice-looking lunge. You want to hold your arm and wrist straighter, though. The idea is that the sword, your hand and your arm line up with your shoulder, which absorbs whatever resistant force you get from your target. Basically, it's like turning your arm into a spear.

(I actually prefer not to get too technical with my swordplay, but that's sort of important since you can hurt your wrist otherwise.)

Anders, dude, post some freakin' stock and show the kids how it's done. There's millions of kids on dA that long for technical correctness, and I refuse to give it to them. I will continue to hang from things and do queer Balinese dances.

They are ALL counting on you, man. DON'T LET THEM DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ahmed, you have some beautiful work all throughout your gallery. You also bear an uncanny resemblance to my co-host Marcus Torres on Cross-Cut (check it out: [link] ). I hope you'll consider posting some stock, you appear to have a knack for it. Best regards, Jade

A nice picture, but the pose is all wrong, and its not all in the wrist, its not at all in the wrist. Its mostly in the head actually, then the fingers, and then the legs. So where to start... Ok, the front lower leg has to be perpendicular to the ground, the knee shouldn't be infront of it, and most certainly not infront of the tip of the foot. The arm should be different, as it is a weapon with an edge (completely overlooking that its a shortsword and not a proper rapier or sabre, and thus way to short and unwieldy for fencing)...hmm a wee bit difficult to describe in text let me see, I guess I'll try it with some ANSII art, but beware I'm not the greatest at doing this, so it will keep to being a stick figure:

O
|\
_| |
| \

Well as I said my ANSII sucks, but I haope to get the picture. And your body should stay facing your enemy, and your sword arm on the same level as your shoulder, not above or below it. And because your arm is too high your wrist is bent to low. Hmm have i forgotten anything else, oh yes, your right foot is not in line with your left heel, the way you are your out of balance.

But its a nice picture XD.

NekoOtaku In reply to verius [2006-10-10 01:32:06 +0000 UTC]

I concur, but it seemed the artist was going more for a "stylized" fencing shot, rather than accuracy. It LOOKS nifty, even if it's virtually impossible to recover.

But it DOES look all flare-y and dramatic. You know, what people associate with dueling and such.

if you tell me to go to slylockstocks page, or mention that she or her brother inspired it, i will drive to florida and smack you upside the head.
maybe it's just because you're old, but you're awfully repititious.
i need to take some more stock so you will love me again.

Jade...this whole series is phenomenal! I think S. may do some photomanipulations of these with hers. Its really too bad our light was so poor. Yours are very well lit. Time to get down to Home Depot!

What Mason gave up his sword to you? Those guys sure were big on regalia. A search of eBay showed up a few of these... Ours is from my grandfather who was busy inventing things when he wasn't being masonic. He was a founder of the Magnavox Company. A Latin scholar (can you tell?) and a much loved man. (Edwin S. Pridham)

Why does it not surprise me that you have such interesting and accomplished forebears. I wish I had time to have more than a passing acquaintance with latin; as it is it's mostly just backtracking from the other romance languages I've had the chane to play with.

I do hope she will have the chance to do at least one composite of our images together, but she is a very busy young lady...

Thanks for the positive feedback, this series was very fun to do.

Yay! It's all my brother's fault!
...or something to that effect.

Ok, story time: I was sitting around in an awesome costume, watching Phantom of the Opera. Mom called me to the computer, asking me if I'd seen this. I RAN outside, stepped on something painful in bare feet, nearly ran into two cobwebs with very big and ugly spiders, and then saw this.

I LOOOVE YOU GRANDPA! ^_^

I should putter on down to Florida and be your adopted niece. Then we can fence (erm, you can help me because I'm more a pincushion then a fighter) and be real cool folks together! ^^ Yay!
I should bring my bro with me.

Wohoo for fencing poses! I've tried it only once, and ended up theoretically stabbing my opponent in the hand, kidney, and crotch...(not on purpose of course). Talk about inadvertently dangerous with a bladeXD
