I think I'd characterize myself as unprepared for this 'locke. I ran it semi-blind, and I also had a poor understanding of Pokemon abilities looking back on my playthrough.

Yeah, it's weird because I had a lot of good luck to counter out my stupid mistakes. XD
A good past example of me not knowing what I was doing was the battle vs Bugsy - I didn't think a critical hit would do as much as it did, I didn't factor in the U-turn strategy, and I didn't know about Scyther's Technician ability. I only got by because Ro had the type advantage to tank the hits while Liberty finished the match.

Yeah, Onix is a pretty sturdy 'mon, so getting one of those was certainly helpful. That Scyther is pretty dangerous, but a good Rock or Fire type is usually enough. Especially Rock.
