she's sitting at the edge of her bed, staring at the wall blankly. "where did i go wrong?" she asks you.

"you haven't gone wrong, you're only sixteen, there's nothing that you could have screwed up too badly yet."

she just nods, and continues staring at her wall. you two sit there, until she speaks up again. "i think you should leave now." you do, and she falls backwards onto her back so that she is staring at the ceiling. she did not tell you that she had already screwed up, because she's lied so much she doesn't know what the truth is anymore. she did not tell you that she does not remember what happy is, because she's been sad for so long. she did not tell you that she doesn't have the strength to go on.

she sits up, and then pastes a smile on her face, and stands up, and walks out her door.
she doesn't not tell anyone how much effort that took her, because none of them really understand. and if they did, they would never leave her alone, and that was all she wanted: to be left alone.
