Details
Personality:Elys is a commoner with all the nobility of a Lady. She is prim and proper, determined to blend in among the royals as if she were one of them. Royals are very important to her--she has always adored them, even from a young age. She has a keen ear for gossip, absorbing seemingly useless information and storing it away in the archives of her mind. In fact, she is filled to the brim with trivia about royals and the fawns within her harem. While Elys is very intelligent, she lacks wisdom and can be foolish--especially when she is hyper-focusing on something (or someone). She is very traditional and well-learned in Glenmore culture. Because of this, she has the tendency to be a little judgemental--especially to those who do not conform to proper social norms. She is exceedingly faithful and devoted to her Lady. However, a lot of her motivations lie in self-interest and she can be very selfish. Elys is also particularly manipulative, pressuring those around her to do things that will ultimately benefit herself. For example, she is determined to be the best commoner she can be and will do everything in her power to elevate her status. She often uses her position as Lady Arwen's hoofmaiden to do just that. While she does genuinely love and care for Lady Arwen, her first instinct is to look for how her Lady can be used to make herself look better than other commoners. It should come to no surprise that Elys is obsessed with her self-image. She is superficial and vain, not caring to look deeper than the surface--especially in regards to stags. This makes her oblivious to inner demons or hidden flaws that reside deep within her fellow fawns.
Appearance:A pale, lithe beauty with a light build and long legs. Her coat is shiny and well-groomed, her mane long and silky. She is the picture of Glenmore beauty, and she likes to show it off.
History:Born to a Royal Guard and a Hoofmaiden, she was raised in the Glade that belonged to her parents' Lord and Lady. While they were essentially servants, her parents were happy to work in their court. Their Lord and Lady treated them very well--in fact, they deemed themselves blessed to have such wonderful Royals to serve under. Elys grew up rather spoiled, taking her first steps into a glade that was eager to welcome her among them. Her pale coat earned her many compliments, especially from the glade's Lady who was expecting her own fawn. So taken by the fawn's beauty, the Lady insisted that Elys grow up alongside her daughter.
While Elys would certainly grow up alongside the fawn, her Lady would not get to see it. There were complications during her birth, and the Lady passed away shortly after bringing young Lady Arwen into the world. Her Lord was heartbroken. For months Elys never caught a glimpse of him. She often overheard her mother and father's worried whispers about their Lord and late Lady. The fawn their Lady left behind now fell under her mother's care. Elys and Arwen grew up as sisters, although it was very clear that they did not share the same blood nor station. Elys did not mind her nestmate's higher status, of course, and was overjoyed to grow up alongside a Lady. After all, she had more time to practice grooming Lady Arwen's mane and learning her favorite things. The other hoofmaidens would not be able to compete with her for Lady Arwen's favor and affection! There would simply be no contest.
As Elys grew, she became more obsessed with Royals and Glenmore culture. She was determined to be the best hoofmaiden she could be to her young Lady and began learning all she could about politics and traditions. She would often help Lady Arwen in her studies, as it was important for the young royal to learn how to properly behave. While Lady Arwen was never so thrilled about the lessons, Elys adored them. She was a quick study, soaking in information like a sponge.
One day, she stumbled upon a young Lord that was of age with her and Lady Arwen. He was everything a Royal stag should be: tall, dark, handsome. She would watch him train with his antlers and spend time with other royals. The hoofmaiden was infatuated with him. She even tried to sneak Lady Arwen out the glade to hopefully catch his attention (she was more than willing to use her Lady as an excuse to speak with the young lord!), but that escapade was quickly stopped by her father. Lady Arwen was forbidden from leaving the glade by decree of her Lord father. After losing her Lady mother, the Lord was not willing to risk losing his daughter.
But Elys could still watch him from afar. And she would do so often--purposefully gathering flowers closer to his glade than her own. The years stretched on, and Elys continued spying on the handsome Lord. She began learning everything she could about him and his newly formed harem. She thought his does were the luckiest fawns alive! Their hoofmaidens too! Of course, she was a little dismayed to find a dark Lady and a dark hoofmaiden among his court. Nose wrinkling with disdain, Elys could only imagine how beautiful he would find her Lady. And herself, for that matter. They were the perfect pair! Too bad Lady Arwen's father would not let her leave the glade...
Fate seemed to hear and be receptive to the hoofmaiden's wishes. News soon reached her ears that this valiant young Lord had saved Lady Arwen's father. So impressed with the young Lord, her lady's father insisted that he meet his daughter. And her hoofmaiden, who would certainly be by her side wherever she went. Much to Elys excitement, it was arranged that she and her Lady would leave to join Lord Tuscan in his glade--just like that! Lady Arwen was not so enthused, but Elys was ecstatic. The entire trip to Lord Tuscan's glade, Elys filled the air with chatter. Lady Arwen had to learn everything she could about their new Lord so she could impress him. So that she could become his favorite. Because then, Elys would become his favorite hoofmaiden!
