Details
Personality:Nevyn is a gentle soul, born to love rather than fight. He shies away from confrontation, preferring to talk through solutions rather than using brute force. He is extremely imaginative, prone to long bouts of daydreaming. This often renders him distracted and unfocused. In fact, Nevyn usually blunders about his tasks, clumsy even in his most practiced endeavors. He is a loyal and devoted friend, nurturing all his relationships with great care. He is intuitive and picks up on nuances very quickly, absorbing all the little details about his companions. It is not uncommon for Nevyn to surprise his friends with little gifts: their choice meal, a stone bearing their favorite color, a feather from their preferred bird, or a flower he noticed them admiring. It should come to no surprise that Nevyn will grow into a hopeless romantic. He even idolizes the idea of being in love. Stories with romance are his absolute favorites, and he one day hopes to have his own to tell. It should not be too difficult to manage, as his kind, sympathetic nature makes him easy to get along with. But Nevyn is not without flaws. Highly emotional, Nevyn is quite sensitive. He takes criticism to heart and is often wounded by jokes or playful teasing. He is deeply insecure and lacking in self-esteem, making him an awkward and unnatural conversationist. Most of the time, he appears to have his head in the clouds, lost to his own imagination. To make matters worse, his lack of communication skills makes him frustratingly indirect. He rarely works up the courage to say what is on his mind, preferring to beat around the bush and act passive-aggressively if spurned. He is prone to mood swings, though they are mild and go unnoticed by most. He can be pessimistic, especially in regards to himself. Finally, Nevyn struggles to let things go. His loyalty is endless, even in relationships that have long since expired. He is capable of holding grudges, but once he has received an apology, he quickly forgives the offender. Though he plays the part of a traditional stag, he does not full-heartedly support traditional views. Determined to keep up the facade to impress his father, the young Lord adheres to Glenmore's culture and behaves in accordance. In the privacy of his own quarters, however, he lets his guard down and is able to be his true self. Much like his mother, Nevyn is quite unconventional at heart and prefers to live and let live. Nevyn loves deeply and unconditionally, always wearing his heart on his sleeve and is comfortingly authentic. He may be a little dorky, but he is a down-to-earth and compassionate companion.
Appearance:Disclaimer: Nevyn does not have a forelock, but artistic freedoms were utilized in his drawn application.
A black classic fawn with a charcoal coat and raven-colored mane. He resembles his father, possessing dark features considered handsome by Glenmore standards. His hooves and antlers are a dull ebony color. His favorably dark pelt is garnished with a stunning array of lighter spots. His coat lightens along his throat, chest, and underbelly; it darkens towards his dorsal. His eyes are a deep and shimmering chestnut, always kind if not hesitant. His mane is long, thick and unruly, much like his mother's. He seems to have inherited her unusually large ears as well--a feature he is quite self-conscious about. While he possesses a medium build, he is slimmer than most. Despite his deceptively graceful appearance, Nevyn is too long-limbed and lanky.
History:Born to Lord Fehderer and Princess Tori of Glenmore, Nevyn was granted a life of privilege and luxury. Finding it unsavory that a Lord such as himself was to live without a Princess gracing his halls, he was ecstatic when he was finally betrothed. His intended, however, was not as thrilled. Tori was an unconventional doe in both appearance and manner. Her piebald coat and mismatched eyes were considered a blight in Glenmore's society, but her Lord took her appearance in stride, determined to maintain a positive outlook. After all, he had waited so very long to have a Princess.
Her disposition, however, was more disturbing to the Lord. On their first night together, the princess recoiled from him as if his touch were fire upon her flesh. She forbid him from touching her, a reaction that unnerved Lord Fehderer. Her unusual features were a challenge to overlook, but manageable. her behavior, however, was another matter entirely. He hoped she was just homesick and exhausted, and would recover her previously mild nature once she recovered with rest. But that proved to be wishful thinking. Much to his dismay and disappointment, the doe who was to be his forever-mate remained ornery and standoffish.
Several long and unhappy seasons would pass before the couple would embark on an even more daunting task: bringing a fawn into the world. Fehderer was eager to be a father, but he was not without reservations. His Princess, the mother of their soon-to-be-fawn, was miserable. And what was more concerning was the deplorable genes she could pass onto their offspring. What if their fawn came out wrong?
When Spring arrived, the Lord would be relieved to find that there was nothing to fear. His fawn--his son--was born perfect. With a dark pelt favorably adorned with spots, young Nevyn was a shining example of an ideal Lordling.
While Nevyn might have been born perfect, he was certainly not born into a perfect home. The bitter tension that existed between his parents did not go unnoticed by the intuitive youth, and he was left with only himself to blame. His mother offered him little affection. She regarded him with bitter indifference, leaving him feeling rejected. Without a mother to nurture him, he turned to his remaining parent for comfort. But despite his father's genuine love for him, the Lord could not fulfill the role of a caregiver. Raising fawns was a doe's duty.
Nevyn was also beginning to realize how different he and his father were. Lord Fehderer was confident and ambitious. He was a traditional stag with traditional values--values he was determined to instill into his son. They never quite stuck, though. In contrast, Nevyn was reserved and sensitive to criticism. He was particularly averse to conflict, especially physical confrontation. And he did not quite understand or agree with his father's traditional views, but accepted them nonetheless. His father was, after all, very strict and demanding, and Nevyn only wished to impress him. His appearance had earned him his father's pride and favor, and he was determined to keep it. Still, the young colt cannot help but feel buried beneath the weight of his Lord father's expectations. At times, he feels like he is doomed to fail and will ultimately prove to be another disappointment.
