Apartment Type: Singles Apartment [he pays the rent via a combination of the money he saved up from working prior to entering university + his parents’ help]
Personality
+ Witty: He can be a very funny and entertaining individual to have around depending on one's sense of humour. (He has a sarcastic and slightly darker sense of humour which may be considered insensitive by some people)+ Loyal: Although he does not make friends very easily, he is very loyal and devoted to the friends that he does have, along with his parents.+ Caring: He generally doesn't show it due to his usually reserved outward personality, but he is actually very caring to those that matter to him; he will genuinely express his concern for them should they be facing any kind of trouble and will be willing to help them out in his own way. + Protective: He is fiercely protective of his loved ones and will readily sacrifice himself to save them if they are in danger without thinking twice.+ Generous: Although he is usually more on the selfish side, he does display generosity to those he considers close. For example, he'll lend a sweater to a friend who's cold or offer to pay on outings.
- Cold/standoffish: He is kind of cold to those he does not know very well. He doesn't mean to come across as this way; he just acts like this because he lacks the social skills to interact with others in a more natural way.- Pessimistic: He gradually developed a pessimistic nature growing up, most likely due to his multitude of bad experiences trying to form social relationships with his peers.- Selfish: He doesn't really recognize this aspect of himself very well; others do. He has a difficult time realizing that he almost always wants things his way.- Shy/socially awkward: Despite his seemingly uncaring and tough? (he tries to put up a tough, intimidating front around strangers to compensate for his small stature and babyish face) external personality, he is actually pretty shy and prefers to be approached by others than do the approaching. He would also rather have others initiating conversations with him over him trying to start a chat due to his lack of social skills.- Temperamental: He tends to get irritated easily but tries his best to not show it. However, if he is angered enough, he will snap. He has a short-temper at times but is doing his best to work on it.

Bio
Lao is an only child to immigrant parents from China. Due to this and having a shy disposition, he was pretty lonely growing up. His peers generally didn’t notice his presence at school as he was very quiet nor did he go out of his way to approach them first. He spent his days drawing and watching tv by himself until his life changed in the fourth grade, where he met Fuhua, the new student who would eventually change his life. He and Fuhua gradually became best friends and ended up dating in their senior year of high school, becoming engaged that summer. Their engagement was rather short-lived, however, as the two became involved in a very heated fight over Lao's choice to move away for art school instead of attending the local university with Fuhua. The two broke up after the argument, with Lao moving away a week later.
Two years later, Lao moved back home upon graduating from the art school that he had been attending, eventually reconciling with Fuhua a year later. He then worked as a server at a hotel that his old college roommate’s brother was managing. The following year, after hearing about Fuhua’s decision to attend culinary school, Lao made the choice to obtain a university degree in addition to his diploma from art school. With the persuasion of his parents, who thought that it would be a good experience for him to study abroad, he applied for an exchange program at his school, choosing Japan. His life at Munona Apartments then began.
Additional Information
His parents named him after the Chinese philosopher Lao-Tzu, hoping that their son would become wise and accomplish great things in life, both of which he is currently not doing. They also believed that this name would be easy for other kids at school to pronounce and remember. Related to this, he doesn’t like his name and wishes that his parents had named him something else.
Can't cook for the life of him… the food he makes usually winds up being too salty. (He did take a cooking class in high school but didn't learn very much from it because he and a friend in their cooking group liked to play around as opposed to actually trying to learn how to cook) He does know how to make rice, though. Anyway, it's takeout and fast food every day for him during his time here at Munona Apartments.
Knows how to play piano; he took lessons as a kid but quit in the sixth grade because playing piano didn't interest him enough.
- After quitting piano lessons, he began taking up martial arts, AKA his true interest. Although he stopped receiving formal lessons sometime in high school, he still practices on his own from time-to-time. (He was always interested in martial arts because he wanted to learn how to defend himself, thinking that his small size made him seem "weak".)
Started learning how to DJ from his old college roommate’s then-boyfriend but stopped after the two of them broke up. He gave up on learning how to be a DJ after that.
Tried bboy dancing for a while in high school but got traumatized by a nasty fall once while practicing; he quit immediately after that.
Learned how to speak and understand a little bit of Japanese from watching anime.
You may have noticed already, but he cut his own bangs.
Alternates between wearing glasses and contacts, although he almost always wears glasses when at home.
