This defiantly reminds me of the blizzard in March several years ago in my home town: Everything was in bloom and the the next day everyone wakes up to a white wonderland and frozen vegetation.
This is how the photo impacted me and probably to others, it reminds them of the time when things are going amazingly well and then with no warning at all everything flips around for the "bizarre" as the case may be for this small plant.
The snow is beautiful and looks as if it was from a powered substance, the plant is still green and lively giving indication that it hasn't been but a couple hours since things were going well for the plant.
The photo gives the plant personality and mood. I think it is annoyed and rather cold, others that look at this photo might see a different mood, that is the beauty of this photograph.

Thanks for the critique! I found your interpretation rather interesting to read; the snowfall was actually quite calm, and took place over several days, so it was pretty peaceful lol. But I can see how it would remind you of a blizzard from your home; though I've never thought of how my photos could give such different feels! Thanks for bringing this up, I'll keep this in mind while taking future photos (;

The way that the plant is curved almost makes it seem like a bird haha
And again, the contrast between the white snow and the dark background does a good job at focusing on the main subject,
