Description

Merry Christmas everybody!

2015 is coming to an end and it is time for a new entry in my annual pingu turned monster painting series... Enjoy!

...In my continuing chronicle of the epic Mankind vs. Pingu conflict, this year I have decided to focus on a despicable war atrocity.

A captured Pingu hanging on a wall as a (very decorative) war trophy.

The revenge will be gruesome! Check in next year to find out how Pingu will retaliate!

This is definitely an interesting entry into the series (I went back and looked through them), though I think the Pingu declared war early on and humanity is finally retaliating, yes? e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=" (Smile)"/>

I love the texture of the feathers/fur. I can't really tell, since they're penguin-shaped, if their covering is intended to be feathers, though it looks much more like fur. Regardless, you do a great job with it. The only area where you might consider revisiting it in this image is around the eyes, as the color overlaps a bit. Granted, these are dead eyes, and a taxidermist will substitute glass, but a good taxidermist will manage to put the fake eyes in without damaging the hide and causing the fur/feathers to ruffle along the bottom of the eye socket.

The expression is priceless, though! The shock, and the position of him looking over his shoulder, as well as the rounded opening of the beak - he was certainly caught by surprise! Understandably, as I find myself wondering who could have a wall large enough to mount this creature, as they all appear to be gigantic in the other images. Perhaps this is a baby pingu?

There is one other thing you might consider revisiting: the wallpaper stripes aren't evenly spaced, and they aren't a uniform width. I know it's not the main focus of the image, and it's a nitpicky thing to point out, but since you did ask for formal critique, I thought I should bring it up as it does slightly detract from the overall image.

Other than that, though, this is a very intriguing painting- thanks so much for sharing it!

Thank you very much for your excellent review!
In reality this is just a sketch for an oil painting I am working on, so I will definitely take your awesome suggestions into account.

(The painting will be done in a few weeks, oils take a lot of time to dry!)

You're most welcome.

I look forward to seeing the final product then! Yes, traditional materials can take time to dry and/or set properly, but they almost always produce gorgeous works when they are given the required time. I shall certainly be patient.

I wont go into many words like 99% ppl do, but Its pretty funny, one creepy thing.
Everything is good besides 2 things, eyes, they look kinda "off" the theme you made there, like someone glued them on my screen, second, that striped wall, you could fix the perspective a bit and make the wall to fill whole drawing in background... or shorten the wall.
