Description With X-Men: Days of Future Past coming out today, I decided to work on some alternate costume designs for Wolverine.
I actually like his new “future” suit in DOFP, but I wanted to try a look that pays tribute to his classic yellow/blue suit in the comics and, at the same time, looks plausible in the established movie universe.

I went with an updated version of the style of suits they wore in First Class whilst taking influence from designs like Cap’s in The Winter Soldier.
The mask was the hardest to figure out and I’m still working on different versions. It looks great in the comics but I’ve found that it’s pretty hard to make it NOT look silly in real life.

Overall, I’m pretty happy with these, so far. Who knows, maybe somebody at FOX will see these and get some ideas as far as giving Logan an outfit that looks a bit more like the one we know and love from the comics.

I'm a big fan of these concept art pieces of your. They look so professional. Btw, if you're interested, i've just release a concept art of Wolverine, as well. Though it wasn't due to the recent news between FOX and Disney, mine is more inspired by the MCU, though:

Captain America wore a mask in his movies and yet no body bats an eye on it. So why not Wolverine?

Hey man, digging the work...I was wondering if there is any chance of you doing some work for a pretty big project I’m doing known as “Project GL”. Said project involves me mock casting, budgeting, scoring, writing a pilot, etc… for a CW Green Lantern TV show that I then plan on pitching to the network (I do have a way to get it to the execs of Arrow/The Flash)…if you can/will help just shoot me a message at thearrowverse@gmail.com with the subject line “Project GL”, and then a link to your dev. art! (or the username) Thanks! -Arrowverse

Actually, Wolverine's suit, at least, what it should have looked like, can be seen in Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy via Hawkeye's and Rocket's suits.

If only they would do this in the movies, because the basic characteristics of the classic sleeveless, shoulder armor design is doable as a more naturalistic stylized fantasy uniform, yet hasn't been done to this day in the X-Men Movie universe. I mean, the black suits weren't really practical, either. They had the claw marks and all these other crazy stylized designs on these shiny, hard to move in vinyl leather suits. They were stylized like any fantasy uniform, so I wish they went with the one concept art, as they ended up doing somthing like it in First Class and DoFP with fabrics, and they look way better. Compare Colossus's X3 and DoFP suits and Storm's X1/2 suits with her X3/DoFP ones. The fabric ones look way more practical as a stylized fantasy uniform and are more functional too.

I mean, maybe Wolverine and Cobra girl Mystique didn't look too great in that art, but Cyclops's and Jean's core design was practical for a sci-fi uniform and cleverly had a universal uniform look mixed together with per character deviations, such as colors and slightly different designs. I think that would have worked way better and would have gotten a better first impression response from the fans.

I haven't seen TASM2 yet but I'm pretty happy with the costume they have for Spiderman. As far as the Green Goblin, wasn't crazy about his design so maaaaybe I'll tackle his costume some day.

I think that without the large x on the chest this design would be nearly ideal.

yeah I haven't looked at this design in a while and now the "x' is looking a little too prominent. I'll probably just leave his chest piece without it and it'll still come across as his classic outfit.

i really do like how well the overall effect ties both cinematically as well as the traditional design.
