If Sakurai wanted to make FLUDD part of Mario's arsenal, they could've made mario's ENTIRE Special list be FLUDD. Up will be Rocket, Side will be Turbo, Neutral will be Spray, and Down will be "Refuel". It will make the next FLUDD move greater, the Rocket going higher, the turbo going Farther, and the Spray... spraying more.

I like the idea for Starship Mario. It seems similar to Olimar's "Final Day" Final Smash, but the ships going horizontal and there's no fire to burn the poor players. Or is that just me...? I still like the idea though; unique, I'd like to see that in the next Super Smash Bros. C:

I actually love the idea of using the Starship as a final smash but that thing would have a huge hit box on the characters unless they can even it out with other characters too but it sounds like a creative idea. :>

I think I'd keep the Jump Punch, as it is the Classic Mario Jumping Pose of MONEY EARNING but I really like the idea of Starship Mario. That'd be a more useful attack (not to mention funnier)

Man, I love the cape! But I guess I use it in Melee a lot more than I do in Brawl.
I hope Sakurai puts a little more thought into things too, instead of everyone getting the Landmaster o_o;

I'm not sure if I can because, I truthfully feel his move-set fits him much better than Mario's. xD

Interesting ideas. I loved how you incorporated a lot of Super Mario Galaxy's ideas into his moveset and denerfed the fireballs, which were annoying before. The presentation was OK, but if you ever go any farther with this, try putting it into a meme sheet. I have a really good green one that's hard to find in case you are interested. It was my personal fave out of all the SSBB memes but I can't find it with the search...

Ah-HA! I downloaded it and found the author's name at the bottom. Here is the original meme:

First thing I did when I made an account on this site was find a good SSBB meme sheet. This fit the bill after an hour of searching.
PLEASE DO JAMES WITH THIS!

the breakdance move as you call it is known as the trip and it comes from Mario 64 by holding z and pressing B while not moving. i think the super jump punch is just an uppercut version of mario's average jump. and the mario finale is a smash thing alot of characters had moves solely based for the smash ball. however i dont think mario would be a better fighter if he was gimmicky and had alot of influence form his games into his fighting style. its honestly why i cant get into jigglypuff or kirby or samus. mario is a brawler and he doesnt need to revisit old games for attacks. but i can see why you'd think that, i just disagree. using the cape for an up smahs is an interesting idea, but the star spin is unnecessary if he already has 1 ascending move.
to be honest i hope mario doesnt change abit except regaining his melee speed. his buff's in brawl FAR exceeded his melee counter part and Dr Mario and he became one of my mains again.

please tell me you're kidding about the new Smash Bros. game being developed. I mean, I'm a fan, and I have all three on their respective consoles, but I think a fourth is kinda stretching it.

sheesh. Honestly, I think 3 is enough for that series. What more could they do, and who else would they even add? Well if they do add someone, I hope it could be megaman, cause he was with Nintendo since the first megaman on the NES, not to mention all the DS/GBA titles they've had. he's a part of Nintendo, no matter what anyone says.

Mario does that break dance in Super Mario 64 by holding Z and pressing B.
Sakurai claims he doesn't want to change characters too much or fans might get upset. This is why we only get a few changes from game to game but at the core they are basically the same.
Anyway I think Fireball should stay as the normal special especially if you can fire a multitude of them it would be better to not have to hold forward. I do agree that making them faster would be a great improvement.
The FLUDD worked terrible in Brawl, useful only in rare cases. So I would definitely get rid of it. Especially since its not very iconic anymore.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. 'w'
Well, I think Sakurai should break this vow, at least for Mario, cuz as much as I love him . . . he was dull as a rock in Brawl. Even if it that dull-ness was alright in Melee, it was kinda criminal in Brawl now that Mario has more to offer. |d
Well, whatever floats your boat, as long as the Mario Tornado (or in my case, Star Spin) is a Special again.

mario?, Dull?, Brawl?
mario was anything but dull in brawl, his final smash wasnt very reliable sure but he finally got his power back in brawl after melee nerfed him, it was so bad he had to have a second version of himself that was overall better in melee. it mad me question why? if he wasnt so dull in melee he wouldnt have needed a doctor to fill in

JamesTheReggie In reply to ZeoLightning [2012-03-07 16:29:35 +0000 UTC]
if that's the case, then how come I felt like a Power House as Mario in Melee, and ended up getting myself screwed over as Mario in Brawl? =d
look, if you found some redeeming qualities with the transition, then hey, more power to ya. I honestly don't see them myself aside from the needed design upgrade.

its quite the opposite for me, the only down grade i felt was one is speed, but his power had so much impact in brawl compared to melee but we have too different experiences, i just hope over all he's better then boht melee and brawl in the next one
if you can manage mario successfuly in melee then i must be doin it wrong cause using dr mario feels like how mario should be in that game, i just hate how none of his move have impact unless you waste time charging the move, except his foward smash, but even that wa sbetter in brawl, just slower.

True he is very dull in that game.
But you know when you think about it Donkey Kong is kind of worse. None of his moves except for B Down and Final Smash reflect any of his games. The Giant Punch, the Headbutt, the Whirling Kong is all made up.
I'm surprised he never had a barrel throwing move.

JamesTheReggie In reply to koopaul [2012-03-07 06:05:05 +0000 UTC]
, quite.
Wow, now that you mention it, you're right. Hardly any of DK's moves were taken from the games. He could've used his somersault, balance on steel barrels to plow through enemies, use a barrel cannon as his Up-B (though today that'd probably put Diddy's Jet-Barrel to shame unless the cannon also fell in motion), and maybe in this day and age, BLOW a gust of wind to affect opponent recovery *SHOT*.
To be fair though, you could argue that the Giant Punch is legit, IF you count that one scene in DKC2 where he punched Kaptain K. Rool off his Ship. If not, I guess yeah, it wouldn't count. xD
. . . . . god, imagine if he used his Coconut Gun. xD

I think the spin jump should do damage going down, but only if Mario's feet connect with someone else's head.
Hmm... A final smash for Mario could also be, say, Star Beam.

nah . . .
that could be Paper Mario's final smash if he makes the next Smash (which I can see since he was pretty visible in Brawl xD)

Every Link is a separate character. That's how the Zelda series works. The Mario series works differently.
Mario generally doesn't have attacks or special moves based off of his power-ups, but on his other abilities.
That's not how Mario canon works. With Mario, everything is just as canon as everything else. Everything, even the movie (unfortunately) and cartoons, contradictions and all. Beyond the cast of characters and the basic setting, there is very little continuity.
It's not really explained how the same character can have eight different back-stories while still being acknowledged as the same person, but Mario manages it.

That's kind of the point, really... Mario's not supposed to make sense. It's supposed to be fun.
... Have their own hooks? I don't understand what you mean by that.
Because the fighting style is the same. The abilities in the Paper Mario games tend to imitate what Mario does in other games under different names. Though they could be given different specials, the only way to actually make them quite different would be taking the less known and used abilities from the Paper Mario series, making Paper Mario as a separate character not represent the Paper Mario games very well.

whatever, if you think Paper Mario won't work as an Original Smasher, then that's fine. either way though, I truthfully feel it'd be an interesting experiment for Smash Bros. to see if they can make Paper Mario into a Smasher.
